Understandable! I just really want another outside hitter with a huge arm! I know Megan Fitch will come in and provide some help, but with a senior laden roster, an experienced arm can really take this team to a fringe top 25 to a top 16 hosting type team! This program will be so attractive to portal players

Who are our portal risks that will be looking for more playing time elsewhere? Seems like we carry a smaller roster than most programs anyhow.

Not so sure. Our starting core should remain intact. Lednicky, Hellmuth, Cos-Okpalla, Perkins, Waak, Underwood are all coming back. We do have an elite setter coming in through the freshman ranks in Kirra Musgrove. So it'll be players that maybe want more playing time like Manning, Lopuyo, Guinn, or Thomas. However, I think even these girls know next year can be a hell of a season so it'll be hard to leave. But if we get major upgrades in the portal like an OH or back row specialist, I'm sure others may potentially look elsewhere. But the core will be back, and it's gonna be a dangerous team!

Bring in someone that can serve like crazy! That could be really beneficial

I would assume so. Our RPI before the week was 25. So as of that I'd say a 6 or 7 seed. First round matchup should be fairly easy! It all depends where they send us for our second round matchup.

I swear if they send us over there and we have to play them second round I'm gonna lose it… and based off the RPI it isn't out of the realm of possibilities lol

This year the roster was 15. There were some other programs close to the same size, but there are some that had big rosters, tu has 20, and something like 5 seniors.

The house settlement would put the roster limit at 18. With the 4 incoming freshman, minus the 2 seniors, we can add one more without attrition.

It's time to talk Tournament!!! If anyone knows anything about volleyball, it's the posters on volleytalk! They have one poster make their tournament predictions and they update them weekly and they've been doing this for years! He has us as a 5 seed headed to Baylor for the first two rounds, with a first round match against Texas State. A sweet sixteen matchup would be against Nebraska… but that's far far away lol. I'd love a second round match up with Baylor! So safe to assume ceiling would be a 5 seed and floor would be around a 7 seed.

According to that bracketology, we are a 5 seed. The 4-seeds, who we would play if we get past the first rounds, are Baylor, Kentucky, Utah and Oregon.

Is Baylor our preferred matchup? We beat them in the pre-season scrimmage but that is probably not a great measuring stick.

Any way we get to leave the state of Texas?

Why do VB players wear pads below the knee?

It seems like volleyball loves sending people in close proximity more often than not. So I was assuming Baylor or TCU or SMU even! I wouldn't be so terrified of Baylor! But you're right it would be fun to leave the state and play someone different!

I think this is a year where it would actually make sense SEEDING WISE to send us to Austin LOL, but they wouldn't send us there for a 3rd game between them in one year! Or would they

not exactly sure, but I think when the girls land they typically make first contact right below their knee in the upper shin… it could also be a comfort preference, or it makes it easier for the ladies to have full range of motion and flexibility

Some say it looks cooler but I do think the majority of their digs don't involve landing straight on a knee. But then, I've seen plenty of bloody knees on the occasion they really do need to do that. They should just use a longer kneepad that covers both areas but that definitely wouldn't look cool.

Men on the other hand, no kneepads necessary. Their style of digging is completely different.

Also cool to see in state schools like Texas State, UT Arlington, and TAMU Corpus Christi have all clinched berths in the tournament! To go with tu, SMU, TCU, Baylor, and Texas A&M! UTEP and Rice also have a shot to get in! Texas is well represented

Possible, but bracket principles don't allow for playing conference opponents in the 1st or 2nd rounds. So if that happened it wouldn't be until Sweet 16 or later.
