1. The NCAA apparently is going to limit the size of sports teams… anyone know how this will effect the Ags and their track program.

2. Heard that decathlete Landon Helms is on a 2 year Mormon mission and at the conclusion of the mission may leave to another program… Boise State?

For number one, they expanded the scholarship limit to 45, currently it's 18 for women and 12.5 for men. It'll be up to each conference to maybe put a limit on it, but if not then schools with the biggest payroll or biggest care and effort into track and field will benefit! The Florida, Arkansas, Oregon, A&M, and Texas… But it's an interesting study to see how scholarships will be allotted

As for Helms, I haven't heard anything definitive, but he does follow Boise State track on Instagram and his wife goes to Boise State also… Blake Harris will be our scorer in this event and make nationals next year!

There's also a roster limit change. For example, baseball went from 11.7 scholarships to 34, but it's roster limit has gone down from 40 to 34. Football scholarships up to 105 from 85, but roster size cut from 120 to 105. I want to say T&F rosters will now be capped at 45.

That was my understanding as well. But in David's interview with Coach Henry yesterday, Coach Henry still referenced 12 1/2 scholarships and having over 100 athletes on the team this year.....

Guess we will find out in the next few weeks...

Cross Country gets 17 too. I am not an expert on this so someone with more knowledgeable correct me if my understanding is wrong...but I believe if you run both it counts as a scholarship for both currently and will be the same with the new rules in Fall 2025.

If all 17 of your cross country athletes run the distance track events in the spring too, those would also be 17 of your 45 scholarships leaving only 28 for sprints and field events.

So, there will still be more than 100 athletes under Henry's purview depending on how many distance runners he want doing both.

Under the rules currently, yes cross country runners are on the scholarship limit of the track and field roster! I assume the same for the new rule, which the increase will change cross country forver

Does anyone know if progress is being made on the "multi-sport" indoor practice facility that is supposed to go in next to the soccer field?

The 17 cross country scholarships are just if a school does cross country but not track. Only applies to a few schools.

Even though XC can build a base for shorter distances, those distance kids deserve their own $, it's crazy the work they put in...
