This race is lame… so far.

Are you high?

This is the best most interesting race I've watched in a while... especially on a short track.

We're going to absolutely see who the best driver is today.

My money is on Kes...his entire career he has been one of the best at saving equipment and conserving?

Big Brad has been steadily moving to the front…

Edit: I'm always high, stoned, or drunk

RFK was strong here in the fall, this race has all the strategy!

At least it's made it interesting short track racing has been a snooze with the new car (although PIR last week was encouraging)

Fun race today…

Only 5 cars finish on lead lap but heck of a race today.

Maybe we can get another like that when they come back for playoffs.

Final 100 was definitely fun to watch. Glad they were able to manage the tires. But **** Denny.

Very interesting that they claim it was the same tire as the fall race and the rubber never laid down in the middle and top lines.

Was this the new aero package? Was the decrease in downforce that much to where the track wouldn't rubber in?

I think Goodyear and the broadcast team were surmising it was related to the use of the resin as a track prep since Bristol is now a rain tire track. In the past, they used the more traditional track prep that took rubber easier.
Pahdz

Yeah but the resin was only on the bottom wasn't it? Doesn't explain the lack of rubbering in on the higher lanes.

There has never been a more real to life correlation between this movie and actual racing than this scene and this past weekend

Anyone got any recommendations for the Nascar event at COTA this weekend? Someone gave me some VIP passes for Sunday. We get to have a meet and greet with Ryan Blaney. My wife and I have never been to a Nascar event.

Where are your seats?

First 2 years I sat in the main granstands club, last year sat in turn 1. If you have VIP passes, do they include parking? If not, I like paying the people who own land across the street from the main grandstands right where FM 812/Piland Triangle rd sorta branches off. I think they charge $20 or $30 for the day.

Get out there early to avoid traffic nonsense and take in the day.

Get ready to walk, a lot.

The area over by the grand plaza will have all the 18-wheeler trailers for the drivers where you can buy their merchandise. There will be additional NASCAR generic trailers sprinkled around. This area also has fair rides, and all types of things.

If y'all want to rent headsets and scanners to listen to the drivers talk to their crew chiefs and spotters during the race (highly recommend), you have to rent them beforehand online. You can do that here:

https://racingelectronics.com/collections/rentals/products/copy-of-circuit-of-the-americas-rental

My rec would be get Intercom System. It will come with a scanner, 2 headphones and mics so you and your wife can talk to each other through it even as it's loud and the cars are going by. Only $20 more to add the intercom system so I'd do it.

Don't just stay in one spot even if you have great seats. If you're somewhere in the main grandstands but you're closer to start/finish, walk down past the grandstands next to the loge boxes right as the terrain goes up the hill and stand there for a re-start without your headphones on so you can hear all 40 cars together hauling ass.

If you are over near the grand plaza at any time during the race there's a nice little hill you can watch the cars coming through where typically some good racing takes place.

Don't expect to see the entire course no matter where you sit because you won't.

I think you can also reserve/take a ride up the tower at the ampitheater in the middle of the track before the race. Your VIP passes may or may not include that.

If they include the pre-party on the front stretch be sure to go walk on the track and check out the cars/drivers up close. I did that 2 years ago when Midland was performing and we had a good time.

If I think of anything else I'll be sure to post it. Ask any questions you want.

Finally...no matter how much or little fun you have...imo nothing beats a great oval when watching NASCAR. Watching at a road course, while fun, is just wildly different.

They are VIP tickets that come with a parking pass. I was told we can go watch anywhere.

Do you recommend bringing lawn chairs or a blanket to carry and move around the different GA viewing spots?

First time doing NASCAR at COTA, but have been there for other races, so kinda know what to expect ... kinda not!
Bunk Moreland

probably blankets, especially because of the rain that just came through in case it stays a little muddy. The only GA area I've really stuck around and watched from is the grass berm near the grand plaza where you can see turns 17/18/19, and then watch them head up into turn 20 then disappear down the front stretch (in red on this photo)

Most everyone who is sitting in that section is sitting on blankets/ground as it's sloped like a berm down toward the track.

I probably would just get annoyed carrying the chairs so I'd skip on that.

It's not as wet as I expected out here today.

This 17 year old kid in trucks. Wow! He just set the track record after his first time on track in a truck.

https://www.espn.com/racing/nascar/story/_/id/39778588/nascar-big-hope-connor-zilisch-make-debut-cota-trucks-race

All his preparation for his Truck Series debut has been in a simulator and his 20-minute practice session at COTA will be his first time on track in a truck.

My favorite view here.

Wind is crazy today up here and it's supposed to blow harder Sunday.

Lawn chairs for sure

On the hill by turn 1 for cup Sunday

Saturday move around. I like the hill at 7-8. I usually walk down to 11 a while for trucks.

You can listen to the driver radios thru the NASCAR app and not have to rent scanners.

I always put earbuds under my headphones when I go and listen

Impressive win by Byron. Bell needed another lap or pit a lap earlier.
Bunk Moreland

Byron is so crisp and on point as a driver. His personality doesn't do a ton to move the needle but I think he's a 50+ win driver for his career.

Yeah the wind was nuts today on top of the grandstands on T1. Airport verified gusting to 38.

They had a communications pole blow over and slightly injure some fans up there just before the start.

Going to the Cup Race Sunday and the Truck Race Friday

Have been to Cup Race several times but has anyone been to the Truck Races? I enjoy them on TV and thought I'd give it a shot.
