I could see Eubanks being the next Wimbledon grass court menace. The guy that top seeds don't want to see in their draw (like Isner or Karlovic in their primes).

He seems to have a slightly more complete game than those two and higher upside when he's on. He demonstrated a wide variety of shots today.

It's ultimately hard to imagine him ever challenging the top guys for major titles though. Don't think his ceiling is quite high enough, even on grass. But we'll see. Very impressive performance this week and it'll be interesting to see if he can build on it.

Aggie Jackson Withrow out in the Men's Doubles QF after yesterday's matches.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

We may look back on that missed volley from Djokovic at break point as the point where he lost the match.

It was pretty much starting to feel as if Djokovic was invincible.
I'm glad Alcaraz was finally able to slay the classless goliath.

Possibly the greatest tennis match I've seen. Djokovic is far from done, and will likely win a few more Slams. Alcaraz reminds me of when MJ informed Magic and Larry, "There is a new Sheriff in Town!" He is phenomenal at 20 and you will know his name soon, if you don't already.

I was a Fed fan the last 20 years but I'm more just a fan of the game. I generally love the history, tradition and the pageantry of the majors (specifically Wimbledon), but IMO the best part is how 1-2 times per decade, you get to see the best of one era pass the torch to the best of the next.

I started watching tennis in the late 90s when Sampras was on his run of Wimbledons. I was too young to understand what it meant for a 19 year old Federer to beat him on Centre Court in 2001 and end his run.

Then Fed had his run of invincibility, before it was snatched by Nadal and Djokovic. Each guy got the better of Federer on a number of surfaces and occations, but the 08 and 19 Wimbledons are the two that stick out as the true turning points. The 08 Wimbledon formally put Nadal on Federer's level and the 19 Wimbledon was, in hindsight, Fed's nail-in-coffin moment. He gave Djokovic everything he had but couldn't find a way to beat him on Centre Court for the third time in six years. It was a heartbreaking defeat for him.

Now Fed has stepped aside and Nadal is TBD. It's Novak's world and he/everyone knew it. Alcaraz's emergence couldn't come at a better time for the sport. I don't think there's any doubt we saw another classic generational handoff moment yesterday.

That doesn't mean Djokovic is done by any means. I fully expect to rack up at least 2-3 more majors over the next few years. But the torch has been passed. And it happened almost exactly how you'd want to see it.

Despite a few hiccups in the 2nd set tiebreak and 3rd set, I thought Djokovic played pretty well. He forced Alcaraz to beat him, which is exactly how you'd want to see the current generation king go down. Alcaraz came up with the goods when it mattered and stole the crown. What a thrill it was to watch.

Classless Goliath seems a bit harsh.

Throwing temper tantrums, destroying rackets when things aren't going your way, mocking the crowd in a gentlemen's sport is classless, though.

I saw the racquet smash, but not the other stuff. You neglect to mention the grace he exhibited when he lost, but you are intent to find fault so that won't matter.

Terrible move by him to slam the racquet. I agree.

The ever so classy Wimbledon crowd had already loudly booed him earlier in the match when he was questioning the umpire about the service clock, so I can't necessarily blame him for being "cheeky" back to them. They did that to a long time champion who has historically been very respectful to them and the All England Club.

So yeah, he lost his cool in a competitive match. Let's focus on that moment as that seems fair. Well done.
