Then there's this. After whining to the chair umpire for a default…

correct interpretation of the rule, regardless if it was intentional or not

I'll politely disagree. The chair should have seen the intent and not listened to the opponents crying about it looking for the default. Hopefully they appeal and get to keep their prize money

I'll politely disagree with you!! The chair may not have seen it happen and no way to know.
That is why the rule is there. But, hated it happened.
Now, go back and let us know who the transfer might me

100% I was there this past weekend and was in paradise. It's a shame that Sinner, my newfound favorite (and I'm hardly alone there), lost so early, but he'll get better and approach his potential if he figures out how to up the accuracy on his first serve and the potency on the second. Much easier said than done of course.

Carlitos vs. Nole on Friday has the potential to be one of the matches of the decade when we look back in six or seven years or so. I think the former is going to win those promising a win for the latter because of his mental fortitude will probably become more aware of the current gap in vitality between the two of them. Regardless of who wins, let's hope it goes five.

Ruud vs. Sascha will probably be competitive as well, but all of us know it's a battle for second. I will say that Zverev is slowly beginning to look better and was quietly playing the best tennis of his career while pushing Nadal a year ago…and then came that horrific injury.

Not much to say about the women. It's Iga's to lose, but unfortunately, I've lost interest in the WTA since Barty retired.

Ugh apologies for the weird syntax; the dashes I used were nuked. Too lazy to edit for clarity.

Enjoy!!! It was money well spent! I did pay and let my son see Djokovic!! I was cheap and was in second to best stadium! Being cheap cost me Nadal as well. You just don't know who is playing that day when you buy in advance!

Question...how is it mathematically possible for the 1 & 3 seed to be playing in the semis? They are supposed to be on opposite sides of the draw. If you assume a tournament goes to chalk, the semis would 1v4 and 2v3, it's impossible for the 1 to play the 2 or 3 any sooner than the final.

I never understood that. Sometimes it has been 1v4 and others it's 1v3. 1v4 should be the norm. Back in the late 70s and early 80s it was Borg, McEnroe, Connors and everyone else. Big gulf for a while between 3 and 4. So I never understood why giving seed 2 an easier path to finals.

Yeah, they went to a randomized draw for each seeding level quite awhile back. You're just as likely to see a 1v3 as 1v4in the semis and 1v5 as much as 1v8 in the quarters.

Some of this was to avoid repeated matchups when the seeding was more constant year on year. For example, when Federer was #1, you'd have him playing Murray every semi and Nadal/Djokovic every semi.

Pros and cons to each way.

Disappointing match, but that'll happen when a guy badly cramps up. I think he's possibly at a point in which he's just too juiced up for his own good, which, because this is the tournament he wants to win the most badly, makes sense.

Nole clearly misses being pushed by Rafa on this court (as well as many others).

Amazing the difference between nbc's coverage and tennis channel's. Tennis channel was all over the cramping overall and knew about the game default. They showed coverage of Alcaraz having similar issues several months ago in Miami during the match. NBC was way behind in their coverage.

Novak Djokovic soldifies his positioning as the greatest to ever hold a tennis racquet. Bravo! - And he's certainly not done yet!

I have to say - Tennis Channel knocked their coverage of the tournament out of the park this year! Better than the crap ESPN and NBC spits out for the uber-casual viewers. Looking forward to Roland Garros next year!

I want Nadal to finish with most majors and I like Djokovic. Nadal will still go down as the best clay court player of all time while Joka just accomplished a never before done feat.

Djokovic has the second most match wins at the French. Has won 1 less Wimbledon title than Fed but has beaten him 3 times in the final), and has 10 Australian titles. In addition to the 23 majors, he is the only player to win 80 matches at each of the majors and he likely will end up with more than 90 at each major. US Open may be the one that he may not get to 90 as he has 82. That requires at least 2 tournaments and at 36, no telling how the body responds.
