I mean we did lose points in the 400m but I have to say, overall, I am not surprised by this result.

What is particularly galling is that 39 points gets us 2nd place. UF had 54 to win. That may be the lowest winning total in at least several years. We just needed a few more top flight guys to get us into the running.

USC from nowhere won the 4x100m and 2nd in 4x400m with a sub 3.00 minute time. That is how you rise to the occasion and do your best. We seem not ready to compete in big meets and run PBs. Maybe there is a big mental aspect that we are also struggling with.
It still baffles me how we could have a 4x100 relay team working for two years now and then fall away during the season especially with 4 good sprinters ( three 10.2 100m guys and one 20.32 200m guy). USC won with 400m runners on their 4x100m

I'm not sure about our strength and conditioning program but that needs to get looked into… how do we all come up short today… not one PR and many injured… this is on the coaching staff for failing to have our athletes ready to compete this post season
It also seem like almost everyone on the team got injured at some point in time. Not good at all
Oh well we have Athing and Fred to make us happy this summer

Our MO since Pat H. has been here is a relatively few superior athletes who could win1st to 3rd place points at nationals. We could usually count on getting in the high 40s or more to be in contention for a national title. The guys didn't have those super studs this year. But as others have pointed out, we also seemed to get worse as the season went on.
Without running down our guys, it would be good to have an honest explanation.
Our MO since Pat H. has been here is a relatively few superior athletes who could win1st to 3rd place points at nationals. But as others have pointed out, we also seemed to get worse as the season went on.

I wouldn't expect the 12th man to ask tough questions. The University is going to put their best foot forward regardless. I would hope that Pat H. would come out and talk to TexAgs or an independent source.
Frankly, what else can you say? Donors have come though in the last several years and changed our outdoor facility from an embarrassing dump to a top flight facility. The indoor track may be older, but there is every indication it is really good as well.
One year in a row isn't a trend, but you have to own up to your disappointments and move forward with a purpose. That's what we need to do now, IMO.

By the way, we only scored in 5 of 21 events and won a title. It only takes a couple of top athletes having a good or bad year to swing fortunes dramatically sometimes.
