Here's my list:
1A. Randy Matson. World record holder in the shot put in his prime, a silver & gold medal winner in the '64 & '68 Olympics & a pretty good basketball player, as well. BTW, could hit a baseball a country mile. I've visited with him several times over the years. Had the privilege of seeing his Olympic medals. Very humble & a genuine guy. Randy might have played been a pretty good football player but he didn't particularly like Gene Stallings.
1B. a guy that I don't hear much about....Walt Davis '51. Won a gold medal in the High Jump in the '52 Olympics & was an All-SWC basketball player that played in the NBA for several seasons.
Both guys are still around. A&M should promote these guys whenever possible.
3.Wally Moon. Basketball & baseball. Most remember him as a baseball player, tho. Had the opportunity to meet him a few times as my GF (now wife of 35 yrs) & his daughter were roommates @ A&M back in the early 80's.
4. Davey Johnson is another Ag in this discussion as well, having lettered in baseball & basketball.
Any other nominees?
