Laura "Bird" Kuhn to take over as head coach of Texas A&M Volleyball
Texas A&M named a new volleyball coach on Saturday as Scott Woodward announced that Laura “Bird” Kuhn will take over the program following Laurie Corbelli’s resignation in late November.
The 35-year-old Kuhn experienced tremendous success at Kansas as an assistant, playing a critical role in coaching the Jayhawks to their first ever Final Four appearance as well as their first Big 12 championship. Kuhn was named the AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015 as the Jayhawks advanced to the Final Four.
"Not only is Bird an exceptional recruiter, but she has an uncanny proven ability to connect with, and develop, student-athletes," Woodward said in a statement. "She brings an energy, intensity, and no-nonsense approach that we are confident will resonate with our current student-athletes and recruits. We are thrilled for her to become our next head volleyball coach, and we welcome her to the Aggie family."

Kuhn inherits a young, talented roster, led by sophomore outside hitter Hollann Hans and freshman setter Camille Conner. The Aggies will lose only two starters from a team that went 10-15 in 2017 but finished on a three-match winning streak.
"When this position opened, I just knew this is where I wanted to be,” Kuhn said. “I am excited for the future of this program and to build on the foundation and tradition already established by the Corbellis. I believe it is possible for this program to have a prominent presence, consistently at the national level."
Kansas won at an .800 clip in Kuhn’s seven years there, the last three of which she served as associate head coach in addition to her recruiting coordinator duties.
