Kyriazis finishes 2nd in the javelin. To have a chance at the team title, Brazier, Grant, Victor, and Collie have to win, we need a top 3 4x4 finish and we need both Lathone Collie and Prothro to eke out some more TJ pts. LSU advanced everyone, Oregon got some unexpected pts from PV and JT to make up for Maton missing the 1500, and Ark finished +6 in the 10k and advanced an unexpected qualifier in the steeple.

Seems like this is something that happens a lot to us. Maybe it's only been a few times, but I can remember at least twice being disqualified in the 4X100 at Nationals.

Victor is on the discus. This is where he should make a big leap.

Not as good as the SEC's but 943 is still huge.

Lindon Victor's 175-5 in the discus becomes the best throw ever in an NCAA decathlon as well as in any decathlon held at Hayward Field.

Devon Williams fouls. Victor's only competition is Ziemek from Wisc. Victor has a 128 point lead with PV, JT, and 1500 left. Z will catch up some after the PV, but Victor will extend his lead in the javelin. He could throw it 5 feet short of the foul line and still extend the lead.

Do not mean to make excuses for the sprint relay team, but perhaps to put themselves in scoring position the coaches felt they had to attempt some "bold passes." This is not a particularly "strong" sprint group (NCAA championship caliber) and in order to be in the mix they needed to be "dangerous'' with their passes...unfortunately, it didn't work out.

A forum poster on the Track and Field News website observed at this years' Colorado high school state meet, in the 4X100 , 5 classes, 9 lanes, boys and girls, 270 handoffs...ONE dropped baton!

At this level all the passes need to be bold. Jenkins being injured and just coming back probably played a part in the missed pass. Just seemed to magnify everything with our lack of running qualifiers.

Texaggierm, Victor is at 6900 with two events remaining. What are his chances to break the meet record?

Meet record is 8457 and collegiate best is 8465. Currently at 6900. At the SEC championship he scored 874 points in the javelin and 636 points in the 1500. I really think it will come down to the 1500 to break that record. He is only off 36 points of his pace that he set during the SEC championships when he scored 8446.

The guy from Wisc will likely pass Victor up after the PV. Victor will gain it back after the JT. It will come down to the 1500 where he should have about a 100 point lead going in.

Victor did 150 points better than Ziemek's PR in JT.

Victor ran 5 secs faster than Ziemek's PR in 1500.

Should be okay! Just don't foul the JT.

Ziemek's PRs in the final two would put him at 8235 which is 130 points above his overall PR so congrats to him.

Victor should finish around 8400 - 8420

Women's 4x100 gets it done. Wins heat 1 over Oregon.

42.92 top qualifying time.

The women looked good - makes me feel good about the sprinters picking up some points. tu was projected to pick up a point but didn't advance.

For the Lady Razorbacks, an event that won't get any attention on TV but will be big for title hopes will be the Pole Vault starting at 7:00 PM.

Interestingly enough...our women's 4 x 100 meter relay team was not supposed to sniff the final and they were on the bubble until the last heat....but hold the phone Tennessee passed out of the zone I think and that would put Arkansas in if they are DQ'd.

Madu qualifies for 100 finals. Thompson and Brown fail to advance. USC and UK get an extra qualifier through and Tenn loses one. Cunliffe jogged it in for Oregon - big loss for them.

Desrosiers won't advance in the 400.

Fray and WIllard don't advance in the 800.

Victoria Weeks won't score for Arkansas in the PV (-3) from their projection.

Shamier advances and USC loses a scorer in the 400H

Maggie Malone with a massive throw in the Javelin 61.55 (201'11") to answer Carson's big throw of 60.84m of Tech.

Brown and Thompson don't advance in the 200m.

Oregon may be the favorite over Arkansas after day 1.

Arkansas isn't really having a bad day. They got an extra girl into the 3K steeplechase finals that I didn't expect.

Although Stumbaugh wasn't projected to score in the hurdles, I thought she might make the finals.

Our 2nd 400 runner letting up at the end and not getting into the final was disappointing but she wasn't projected to score.

Our only miss right now is one of the Weeks' twins in the pole vault isn't going to place, but the better one is still going strong. We really need her to win or finish 2nd.

But to make up for Victoria Weeks not placing in the pole vault, one of our heptathletes surprisingly has made the finals of the long jump, so that's unexpected points.

We need Dominique Scott to win the 10K tonight and obviously make the 4 x 4 final.

I think Arkansas is still the fave. They lost 8 points in the 100 with Cunliffe and their 4x1 relay will take a hit too.
