Losing in the tourney on home court to your lower-ranked, primary in-state rival casts a shadow on the entire season. Very disappointing to see our guys finishing this year as losers to tu.

Denton and McKinley need to really hit the recruiting trail hard. This team needs a big upgrade in talent.

I agree about needing to get some top recruits on campus, but this team was very talented. I have been and will continue to be a big supporter of Denton/ McKinley, but some of these guys just haven't progressed for some reason. Even if Arthur wins that tiebreaker this was probably gonna end up a disappointing year. Once again, It really sucks it had to end against tu..

My only thought is that at one point this season we were ranked top 3. To miss out on the sweet 16 is a tough pill to swallow.

Why is anyone surprised? Last year was the only standout year in all of the Denton era and let's not forget they were just a few points away from losing to a bad Oklahoma state in the second round. Losing to Texas at home with this much talent is embarrassing!

Huge downgrade from Bob McKinley to Kevin O'Shea if the rumors are true! What an awful hire! Program will go down only for sure!

Not sure if Kevin is a shoe in, but being the volunteer asst now, he would be the obvious choice.

The Denton era is coming to and end sooner or later because of his age. He has got to be nearing retirement.

Im sorry but the O'Shea thing is an obvious troll. Im sure hes a great guy and all but Denton is not going to replace a hall of fame coach in Bob with a guy who wasnt a player, hasnt ever coached and has never recruited.

In Kevin's defense, he did play at St. Edwards in Austin. He knows the game very well. Not saying he is the right or wrong guy for the job, but he does know quite a lot about the game.

Sorry I meant wasnt a player at A&M, not that you need to be but we have had so many good ones. Im sure hes a fine coach but is he the guy you want taking over when Denton retires?

Bob is a big loss. Disappointing season. Hopefully get a great coach to come in here.

3 other men's teams lost on their home court, Texas Tech, Illinois and Northwestern. Our teams that have earned the host spot have not done too well this school year. Volleyball lost their 2nd round game, women's basketball lost their second round game, and now men's tennis has lost their second round match. Soccer hosted only a first round match and advanced.
One more team will be hosting.

Women's Tennis NCAA update -

Wow. So close to beating Stanford on their own courts. And now they are in the finals, yet again, vs a HUGE surprise Oklahoma State.

We had Stanford beat on their home courts in the NCAA tourney and they go on to win It all. Interesting year for the women. Started slow, but finished pretty well all things considered. Hopefully Weaver learned a lot in his first year and we will be bit better next year. All in all, pretty good though. Sounds like they will be better next year with the recruiting class coming in. If they had a #6 player there is no telling how good they would have been. The freshman Gonzalez at #5 was a disappointment as well.

Gavrilovska and Vinsant lose in round of 32 today. 4-6 7-6(5) 6-1 for Saska. 4&2 for Shane.

Talent level imo.

Team was extremely talented! As talented as just about any team in the nation. Remember this team started the year out #3 in the nation. Same team as last year basically. Talent has never been an issue. Always good recruiting in my opinion. Always bad coaching in my opinion. Once the recruiting drops, rankings will continue to drop. McKinley loss will be a big drop in coaching. Denton has done an average job in his 10 years and will do worse without McKinley.

McKinley's replacement will be key going forward. Need someone young, preferably with recent experience on the tour who can recruit internationally. Talent wise, Rick, we'll just have to agree that we disagree. This team was way overrated at the start of the season. Still should have been good enough to beat tu but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Recruiting seems to be far behind especially having to replace Withrow, Vinsant and Adams. 3 huge contributors over the years. No assistant coach hire yet. Denton needs to quit going to the buffet lines and get things going.

Kevin O'Shea is the new assistant coach. Not sure why they are not doing an announcement on it. They might not want to hurt recruiting?
