Looks like 14 women (Adams, Benjamin, Bosma, Dittmer, Henry, Ibanez, Jonker, Konetzke, Larson, McClure, McElhany, McGregor, McMahon, Miller) definitely in with Oliver (36 in 2free) and Brandt (37 in 2back) joining them if the cut comes the same as last year. 16 would be an outstanding number, and pending the possible additional of a diver or 2 puts them in great shape for Minneapolis.

16 would be a great number + 2 or 3 swimmers would be tremendous.
Did the Aggies attend ny last chance meets? Georgia hosted one last weekend.
I think on Wednesday, the NCAA will release lists of the qualified swimmers, eligible relays and alternates for the women's NCAAs.

This past weekend was the end of last chance for the women. The men have last chance meets this upcoming weekend.

Official invites should be out by Wednesday, precut list is here:

Shouldn't all the divisional swimming championship be on the same weekend just like indoor track last weekend? The SEC was one week and many others championship were a week after like Big 12, PAC 12 etc. Some teams would have known the times the SEC teams made before their championship.

The SEC teams also have an extra week to prepare for NCAAs. For the swimmers that tapered for conference championships the extra week is probably an advantage. It is very difficult to double taper in general - but slightly easier with a longer period between meets.

The odds are not favorable for a female diver to make it this year. A&M is in the same zone as UT and LSU. UT could send four divers this year. LSU has two divers better than A&M right now.

Looks pretty secure that Brandt and Oliver will make it individually as well, so that will be 16 swimmers.

Great feat by the Aggies to qualify 16 swimmers. With the official Psych sheet out today. Here is a list of the events each Aggie qualifier will swim
Cammile Adam 500 Free, 400 IM, 200 Fly
Erica Dittmer 50 Free, 200 IM, 100 Free
Breeja Larson 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 50 Free
Melanie McClure 100 Back, 200 Back
Caroline McElhany 100 Fly, 200 Fly, 200 IM
Paige Miller 100 Back, 200 Back, 100 Fly
Kelli Benjamin 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 back
Sammie Bosma 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Fly
Sarah Henry 500 Free, 1650 Free, 400 IM
Liliana Ibáñez 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free
Ashley McGregor 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 IM
Meredith Oliver 100 Free, 200 Free, 200 IM
Colleen Konetzke 200 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free
Claire Brandt 50 Free, 100 Back, 200 Back
Sycerika McMahon 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 IM
Frankie Jonker 100 Breast, 200 Breast

Page will be swimming the 200 back instead of 200 IM as her third event.
I think the key to the Aggies success will be how well Page, Lili, Caroline, Erica, Sammie, Ashley and Sycerika swims and make some A and B finals. I know the top three Sarah, Breeja and Cammille would be ready and should be in A finals.

What you all think about swimming events of each Aggie and their overall chances?

#1 key is relays. Relays are double points, and finishing 5th or better in every relay is a minimum 140 points and puts you right on the cusp of a top 10 finish without any other points factored in. Tennessee made their big jump up the board last year based on winning relays and piling up those points(along with strong diving).

The relays are very important to a high finish as said above. Some of our ladies will not swim fast because they tapered for SEC. We can guess who that will be - because they swam season or lifetime bests at SEC.

I think we know what Breeja can and will do. Probably the same with Cammille. I hope Henry has another gear - because she missed the opportunity to swim fast last fall and probably was more rested than Breeja and Cammille for SECs.

A big meet by Lili could be important because we probably won't score much in freestyle without her swimming well.

Another key is to start fast. We did not have a good first day last year. We have to swim fast in the morning or else we can't score top 8 or top 16 points. Only Breeja, Cammille, and Paige have any room to play with to save energy for finals.

Thanks guys.

We are only in the top 5 in three relays 200 Free (4th), 400 Medley (1st), 800 free (4th). The other two relays 200 medley (8th) and 400 Free (9th).
Can we swim faster in these relays and should we change the line up in any of these relays.

What about Caroline McElhany? Can she really score big points for us? She hasn't been close to any of personal best times but she is improving with every meet.

Are there any swimmers that could spring a big surprise and contribute significantly?

I think McElhaney was injured earlier - like Henry. McElhaney has been swimming faster as the season progressed. She is very experienced, a senior, and one of my favorite stories for the A&M women (she transferred from Texas). I can't imagine anyone who wants to swim fast at NCAAs more than her.

I think our free relays can go faster. Lili alone could be worth 1-2 secs on the 4x100 and the 4x200. I am not convinced Steve knows exactly who should swim those relays. Except for Lili and Dittmer on the 4x50 - it isn't clear who the 4 fastest feestylers are.

Looks like Troskot and Bolleter had good 50 free swims in prelims at the American Short Course in Austin. Troskot @ 19.32 and Bolleter @ 19.41. Pretty sure those are season bests. Definitely faster than they were at SECs.

Both Troskot and Bolleter were under the old school record. Troskot's time is an A cut.
