Gotta show some love for my fellas!

The meet against Harvard should be a good contest. Hopefully the Ags can show some fight like they did at the Southwest Plunge Invite thingy a few weeks ago.

Oh and by the way they got a monster recruit coming in next year, but I'm not gonna say who it is...yet :-D

Haven't decided yet Spice. I might start giving clues and see who can figure it out first, like LOB did for the women's signees. Stay tuned tho

Good luck in Boston, Ags.

Texagg09, I heard the same news last weekend. I'm new to the board so I won't still your thunder. I'm just glad to hear that A&M is getting some love from highly rated recruits.

REAL highly rated. Maybe the highest-rated U.S. pick-up for the men ever?
texagg09

U.S. Recruit? LOB are we thinking of the same person, or do the men have 2 huge recruits coming in?

You are correct 09. I'm losing my mind. I should have said one of the top Canadian recruits in team history (we had two pretty darn good ones in the earlier part of this decade).

Yup. very true. Bringing in a sprinter of that caliber will help ease the pain of losing Strange next year.

These are the top 10 50 freestylers 17-18 in Canada. Is our guy in this list?

So glad to have the new recruit. Sounds like he'll make special records in Aggieland. Also, congrats to the team on their win.

Wow #1. Didn't see that coming.

Can anyone shoot us some more legitimate numbers? The Canadian swimming site is terrible. Also, does anyone have any SCY times on him?
Look Out Below
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He's for sure sub 20 and sub 45 (I believe) already.
texagg09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I believe, (not positive) that he is the #4 ranked recruit by collegeswimming.com, and I think 19.3/43.1? not positive on those times that's what I remember hearing/reading. Think those are converted tho
texagg09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Don't quote me on those numbers though...
gobluwolverine
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wowwwwwwwwww. That would be HUGE numbers. What's the guy's build like? Is there a lot of potential for him to get even better?

We must be padding someone's pockets at Canadian swimming, because our men and women have a serious pipeline coming from up there.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
hahaha...nobody's pockets are getting padded. Believe it or not, A&M's coaches actually do a great job at identifying talent and getting in with them earlier than the many of the big dogs. For once they managed to not get one stolen away.

Also when you've had as much success with Canadians (men and women) as A&M has it doesn't exactly look like the ugly stepsister of programs to our neighbors to the north.

if you look him up on swimrankings.net he has relay splits of 21.6 and 48.2 scm. generous conversions give you the 19.38 and 43.26. His flat start times aren't quite that impressive but those splits justify a top 5 ranking for him. any team would love to have this kid.

Thought I'd get back on the original topic, great job against Harvard and BU. Looks like the team is swimming really well for early in the season, these freshman are stepping it up as well. Gig Em Ags

I just noticed there is no Art Adamson invitational this fall. What happened?

The men don't race again until the dual meet against Auburn in January.

Check the football schedule.

Spice, the official word coming out of camp is that the weekend they usually have it on is a home football game. Not sure why they were so adamant about having it that specific weekend. Tisca is this upcoming weekend, and the Baylor home game. I guess Bultman must've really had his heart set on having a meet the weekend before Thanksgiving. Not sure why they didn't have it last weekend while football was in Norman; was there something else going on then?

I seem to recall the guys having a huge layoff like this last year, too. Still seems odd to me though.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The guys swam at the A&M invite last year then had their layoff...it's basically just a week longer this year.

The A&M women (under Bultman) have always had their invite the week before Thanksgiving be it in College Station or elsewhere. I would assume he is not wanting mess with what has worked in the past.

It also probably doesn't hurt either team's budget to A) not compete in an invite at all or B) go to Houston rather than have to pay for the Rec for 3-4 days.

gobluwolverine
How long do you want to ignore this user?
True, LOB. And TISCA is probably a whole lot more profitable for recsports than a college invite would be, both for facility rental and all of the families that will take over Time Out in the lobby. Do TISCA meets usually charge admission? Never watched one, only swam at them.

My guess on the girls would be to have a big meet headed into thanksgiving, when everyone goes home for a few days and doesn't necessarily train hard.

Any thoughts on the training reason for the guys' layoff every year? I'm not disagreeing with it (yet), I just don't necessarily understand the reasoning behind it, because you don't usually see layoffs like that, either for swim teams or any other sport.

If nothing else, it'd be nice to see another home meet for the home team fans, especially if they could bring in a team at about their level. It's a shame that the guys won't even be competitive in any of their 3 home meets (Auburn, t.u., Big 12's) this year. Not great for the fans.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well you can't fault them for swimming a light schedule...lol...Who else can say their only two home dual meets are against the #1 and #2 teams at the last NCAA Championship.
SpicewoodAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The fall "invite" - where ever it is - is the time for most teams to rest a bit to get some NCAA cuts before their conference championships. Our men don't seem to do that - hence their poor swims last year in drag suits at the Art Adamson. But the women have swum fast before the holiday break. I suppose they will do that in Houston this weekend.

It seems the men have been swimming a bit faster at this time of year than previously. Are they betting on Big12s to get their NCAA cuts?
Look Out Below
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They always have under the current regime
gobluwolverine
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well, do most of the guys swim Club meets sometime in the layoff? Maybe they're expected to do so, and that would keep costs down for the team if they'd be responsible for their own travel/lodging/meet entry fees...

It also seems interesting to use a broadstroke strategy like that for all of the swimmers. Maybe the sprinters could use those meets midseason, whereas the distance guys don't necessarily.
JunctionBoys6
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No idea what you guys are talking about at all. But the team does well and all you guys can do is talk their schedule down? Do you guys ever get excited about the potential they have to be the best team A&M has ever had?
