What did Blake do against Cook?
Blake was coming back from that weird injury he had with the net post and wasn't playing that well. The crowd had a pretty strong, pretty vocal Aggie contingent...definitely a little obnoxious compared to the typical River Oaks crowd, but nothing compared to Davis Cup. Anyway Lester was hanging in there in the 2nd set and it was like he was playing a home match. Blake got frustrated and was getting into it with the crowd, belittling both Lester and the crowd and dropping a lot of f-bombs. He didn't say anything too vulgar ("keep on f-ing clapping you f-ing idiots...yeah, this effing clown really has a chance", etc.) but he had a terrible attitude and it was like he was beside himself that the crowd might support the local kid instead of the LEGENDARY James Blake.
Ever since then I've always viewed him with a somewhat negatively biased perspective but even just objectively he does seem to tank a lot when he's behind and never does seem to put it together in the big matches.
You know I used to not like Roddick but he has really grown up a lot, been humbled, changed his attitude, and now I'm a big fan. I still don't like Djokovic (his attitude after the Roddick US Open match last year was embarrassing) but I can see him growing up a bit too and I really like the way he plays. Even Agassi back in the day went from jerk to first class as he grew up...so anyway I'm holding out hope for Blake, but it's getting a little late in his career.
