Thanks PJ - I was guessing it was something like that after reading a bit at the U Toledo site, but the seeding thing makes it interesting. Up to 36 holes each on Friday will be tough. I hope they don't have any more rain.

That format should be a blast for those kids, though. I wonder if they'll play two-somes (20 tee-times in the morning) or four-somes with two matches going on each hole for the quarters. I'm guessing it'll be based on rain/time, but the team aspect would make it interesting.

Great round today.

Time to give thumbs up to coach Higgins. Great job in his seven years here. He looks a lot like Ryan Palmer and has got the #1 senior (Cameron Peck) in the nation coming to A&M.

Also, thank God for Traditions Golf Club. Remember the whinning on Texags.com about Groff canning Dave Elmendorf for supporting Bud Adam's attempts to kill Traditions. Well, Dave's back doing color and A&M's got a powerhouse golf program. I told you so (you people w/ stars can look it up )

There moving in the right direction.................to give us back our spot in the final group when they went from +5 to +7 in just a few holes. The good news for us is that they won't finish their round today, so hopefully their #5 who is on fire today will cool down a little over night.

Clearly, the men's golf team deserves vast kudos for their performance so far. For those who need a link to the results: http://www.golfstatresults.com/public/index.cfm?tournament_id=1495 (sorry, I guess I need a lesson in posting links!)

It looks like we will be 8 or 9 strokes above the cut-off line, unless some of the teams still playing get really hot tomorrow morning.

Here are my priorities for tomorrow:
1. Make the top 8
2. Be in the top 6, so we don't have to play OSU or Georgia in the first match play round
3. Be no worse than third so we can avoid OSU until the final round

I'm assuming that it would take a minor miracle to catch OSU before match play starts. Also, I see them as the favorite.

Agreed coloradoag, and if OSU loses I would be very surprised because the match play sets up very well for them because they are very good and very very very deep.

And also from what I am hearing from the Golfweek videos and articles from guys covering the tournament coaches will not be able to mess with their line-ups when match play starts. The teams will be seeded by their stroke play finish, and the players will be seeded by their individual golfstat.com ranking.

I just glanced at the standings early Thursday morning, and it looks like we'll have at least a 9 shot buffer for the last round to remain in the top 8. Surely that will be good enough!

I'm glad to hear about the team seedings for match play being established by the stroke play results. That seems the fairest way to keep the coaches from manipulating seeding within their teams from match to match.

Two other teams to watch out for are USC and Bama. They are very good teams that had pretty bad first rounds but have seemed to crawl their way back into the mix.

What a match it would be if USC finished 8th and was up against osu.

Golfstat updated their team rankings today. Seems a bit weird considering we're in the middle of the championships. The Ags dropped from 12 to 15. Thank God we shot 8 under yesterday or we might have fallen out of the top 25.

With this new format, I really think that A&M should change the format of the Aggie Invitational Tournament to match.

It would draw more teams from the nation and would be good for the preparation.

Should be a great day for the guys. There is no doubt that the new format has created the excitement that was expected when the change was made. We should be moving on to the Final 8 and the match play will be intense. I can tell you that the group of guys Higgins has with him are going to be tough to beat in match play. Specifically, Bronson and Andrea have a ton of experience with this format and should provide great leadership.
