I think that the football hire will overshadow the volleyball program and Corbelli will get another year. I've been thinking this for some time now, but I wonder how much is a money issue... Depended on how much to buyout Fran and bring in a new coach, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a move next year after all the football extravaganza is in the past.

Since we got a football coach for much cheaper than was expected, and is paid less than the previous coach, despite the buyout, I doubt money is an issue concerning the VB program.

Money is not an issue. We can get a high caliber coach for much less than what the Corbelli's are paid if BB wants to get an up and coming younger coach. There are few coaches making the salary that LC does but they are performing at a much higher level. Salary and the football coach timing have nothing to do with it.

Div I is only starting playoffs now. Div II finals are 11/29-12/01. NAIA is going on now. Div III is done. Nothing is going to happen VB coach-wise until after the final evaluations can be done on potential candidates which includes playoff performance.

whoop: what are the Corbelli salaries? I saw it posted in an article one time, but I can't find it now. Seems like between the two of them it was 150K or 200K (not including benefits, bonuses, etc.)

that t.u. paid Elliott $105,594 in 2005. I don't think that includes bonuses, but it wasn't explicit.

Someone mentioned hiring a defensive assistant...I'd rather see someone with more setting experience. Yeah - we could probably afford to drop a scholarship on a recruited Libero. I'm not real sure what Robyn brings to the table.

Combined, the salaries go about $180K, with a little over $113K to LC.

...and you could not be more correct about actually recruiting a Libero on scholarship. In this day and time it is a necessity. We should not be looking to convert a reserve OH to Libero nor should we just let a walk-on try to make the team in that spot. In this day and time the position is too important to continue to handle the same way. This is just another way the recruiting has not met the expectations at the upper Div I level we are supposed to be striving for in the past 5+ years.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Outside hitters Kelsey Black of Amarillo, Texas (Amarillo High School), and Chelsea Ringel of Arlington, Texas (Arlington Martin High School), have signed national letters of intent to play volleyball at Texas A&M, Aggie head coach Laurie Corbelli announced.

Both Black (5-11) and Ringel (6-0) are ranked in the top 50 in PrepVolleyball.com’s Top 100 Senior Aces, coming in at No. 42 and No. 40, respectively. In addition, both are three-time all-state selections by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and have participated in numerous USA Volleyball High Performance Camps

Have seen them play and they are both very good athletes, but IMO they are not the kind that will make us any higher in the conference than we are right now.

They appear to be undertaking a major remodel of their house right now as well.
