Last week, I was invited by the @LOTRonPrime folks, along with a bunch of other internet Tolkien folks, to attend an advanced screening of some footage from the #RingsofPower show and to meet the showrunners. I must say: after meeting them, I feel the show is in VERY good hands.

The chatter from attendees was that the footage looked good: sound, production, acting, etc, but they are under embargo at the moment so they cannot talk about what they have seen. One of them did drop that it was all original material. Considering the state of the Second Age, its not surprising, but seems odd to invite a bunch of Tolkien influencers and not show them anything thing from Tolkien's own hand.
Also, the show runners knowledge of Tolkien lore, etc impressed them. However, these are the same groups responsible for Meteor Man and other ****, so we shall see.
Edit: And of course the attendees are now being accused by some of being shills for Amazon.

Also excitement creates clicks and views, I would definitely take it with a grain of salt. Talking with show runners I'm sure has them hyped and they might be really enthusiastic and good people but make a crap product.

All expenses were paid.
From talking with two of the attendees (reddit, discord, etc) they've said the production values are great, but they have no idea how much it aligns with the second age.
We already know amazon is taking some creative liberties: dramatically condensing the timeline, removing dwarven reincarnation, beardless dwarf women, some major character is crashing into the world via meteor, etc.

So I guess in this fanfiction that all of the black hobbits are genocided at some point? I mean no other explanation makes sense at all.
The Harfoots are described as "browner in skin" than the other types of Hobbits, and were the first to migrate into Arnor, where the Dunedain first described them as Haflings.BAP Enthusiast said:

So it's possible that at some time in the past, there were Hobbits with darker skin in the made-up world of the fantasy novel.
Not to break it to you, but even the white Hobbits aren't really Hobbits. They are taller and have less hairy feet. So, not really accurate to the books.
