Good to have Sharp back.
Middle blocker Eliza Sharp made her presence known on the defensive end with 11 stuffs in Texas A&M’s 2-0 week.
Missing six games with an ankle injury in the early part of the SEC slate, Sharp made her return to action last week against Florida. She used that match as a ramp-up to get more comfortable running off that ankle, setting up for a big week ahead.
In A&M’s 3-1 win at Georgia, Sharp posted four blocks of the team’s 11 against a formidable Bulldog team. She built on that performance significantly on Sunday.
Sharp posted seven blocks against Kentucky, helping the Aggies slow down a usually lethal Wildcat attack.
The growth curve of Texas A&M’s middles has been a key part of their recent surge in play. The production there has helped balance the offense, but even block touches have allowed easier first-contacts for the A&M backline.
The Maroon & White will need Sharp to extend her recent heater of defensive play against two tall and physical Orange teams next weekend.
Another strong weekend at the net would go a long way.
