Brauny's Best: Highlighting top high school performances from Week 3

It’s time for another look around the state and country to highlight some of the best performances on the high school gridiron from last weekend. Typically, this is a difficult article to write as I sift through impressive stat lines, but a couple of eye-popping outputs eased the decision-making process this week.

Texas A&M’s Class

Hampton (GA) S Kamarui Dorsey‍

• 7 tackles, 4 interceptions, 1 touchdown

I had to do a double-take when I saw Dorsey's line from last week. Four interceptions? That's hard to do on a video game. The Aggie commit continues to play at an extremely high level, and he's turning into one of the best safety prospects I've seen Texas A&M land in over a decade of covering recruiting. He's so advanced in every element of his game. When you pair the physical boxes he checks with his production on the field so far this season, I think there's a compelling argument to be made that he should move into the top 10 prospects in the country. He definitely has the look of a kid ready-made to come in and make an immediate impact as a freshman at the next level.

State of Texas

Laredo LBJ QB Vicente Robles‍

• 452 passing yards, 4 touchdowns
• 101 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns

Let's show some love to the Rio Grande Valley. Robles produced a whopping 553 total yard performance against Eagle Pass Winn last Friday night. He had touchdown passes of 53, 46, 40, and eight yards while also finding the end zone on the ground with runs of 51 and two yards. I wish I could find more video, but the scramble above was all I could muster after scouring the internet. Hopefully, more clips will emerge because when a player combines for nearly a third of a mile of total offense in a game, the world needs to see it. Regardless, a tip of the cap to the young man for an incredible night that he'll remember for a long time.

2028 Tomball RB Ian Thomas‍

• 9 carries, 202 yards, 3 touchdowns
• 1 receptions, 38 yards, 1 touchdown

So far, so good for one of the country's top ball-carriers in the class of 2028. Tomball remains undefeated, and Thomas is racking up eye-catching statlines week after week. In the past 8-10 months, Thomas has made tremendous strides in his overall physical profile. This has translated to better contact balance, more explosiveness between the tackles, and improved straight line speed — all of which have coalesced into Rodney's son emerging as one of the most coveted offensive prospects in the Lone Star State. While A&M is among the suitors, there's still a lot of work to do if he is going to follow in his dad's footsteps. He will move up significantly in our next rankings update, potentially landing atop the list in the current junior class. He's been awesome.
