Carolina Panthers select Nic Scourton in the second round, 51st overall
Texas A&M had its second defensive end taken in the 2025 NFL Draft when Nic Scourton was selected Friday in the second round, 51st overall, by the Carolina Panthers.
A&M’s Shemar Stewart was previously selected in the first round.
The 6-foot-3, 257-pound Scourton was an all-conference selection in the Southeastern Conference and in the Big Ten.
Scourton was an undersized three-star prospect coming out of Bryan High School in 2022. He eventually signed with Purdue, where he added weight and accumulated sacks.
He led the Big Ten with 10 sacks in 2023. He also posted 50 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and three quarterback pressures en route to earning All-Big Ten recognition.
Following that season, he arrived at Texas A&M via the transfer portal and promptly earned All-SEC honors.
Scourton led the Aggies with five sacks. He also had 30 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries, forced a fumble and broke up two passes.
He was at his best in a 21-17 victory over Arkansas. In that game, he had four tackles, all of which resulted in lost yardage. That included two sacks. He forced a fumble, which A&M recovered on a victory-clinching sack in the final minute.
The following week, he had 1.5 sacks and a quarterback pressure in a 41-10 victory over Missouri.
Scourton is the 12th A&M defensive lineman selected in the draft since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2012.
