Around Aggieland (12/23)
On Monday’s edition of TexAgs Live, Kay Naegeli took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things Texas A&M as the fall wraps up. Football added another transfer, basketball concludes non-conference play and much more.
Football
The football team has already arrived in the Sin City in preparation for the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl this Friday. That is a 9:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN.
The Aggies have added another addition through the transfer portal, bringing that total to seven.
Former Colorado defensive end Dayon Hayes has committed to Texas A&M. In an injury-shortened 2024 season, he posted 16 tackles, 3.5 TFLs and two sacks in four games.
In the 2026 recruiting class, Lakewood (CA) tight end Caleb Tafua announced his commitment to Texas A&M. In addition to the Aggies, he has received offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas and is regarded as one of the top tight ends in his class.
Texas A&M Aggies legend and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett secured his 100th career sack Sunday afternoon, just one week before his 29th birthday. He is the first player to reach 100 sacks in a career before turning 29 years old and is the 45th player in NFL history to reach the triple-digit sack mark.
Men’s Basketball
In Friday’s clash at Reed Arena, Buzz Williams and No. 12 Texas A&M posted a 77-35, 32-point victory over the Houston Christian Huskies.
Next up, Abliene Christian will come to town on Saturday, Dec. 38. That is at 3 p.m. on SEC Network.
Also, former Aggie guard Alex Caruso has agreed to a four-year, $81 million contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Women’s Basketball
Joni Taylor’s Aggies will begin Southeastern Conference after the New Year play on Jan. 2 against No. 18 Tennessee (9-0).
