Brauny's Best: Highlighting top high school performances from Week 10

We are gearing up for playoff football across the state of Texas, which means it’s time for the stars to shine the brightest. I can’t believe how fast the regular season has flown by, but I feel like I say that every year. Regardless, here’s the Week 10 edition of Brauny’s Best, which is headlined by a Texas A&M commit in DFW.

Texas A&M Class

DeSoto RB Deondrae Riden

  • 13 car, 211 yards, 4 TDs

Riden has really started to turn it on the last few weeks, and his performance on Friday night against Dallas Skyline would seemingly indicate he’s ready to make another run at a State Championship. Any time you score on just about every third carry and also average more than 16 yards per rush, you’re going to catch a lot of attention. My favorite part about his highlight tape this week is his decisive when attacking the line of scrimmage. He’s exploding to and through the first level of the defense and then showing what looks like to me some improved top-end speed.

State of Texas

2026 Lexington QB Kase Evans

  • 13/14, 327 yards, 5 TDs passing
  • 64 yards, TD rushing

Talk about an efficient evening. That completion percentage and the overall passing numbers would make Jared Goff smile. That’s a night that would call for a Saturday morning trip to Snow’s BBQ. Evans is one of the more slept on quarterbacks in the state in the junior class and has Lexington in a really good spot heading into the postseason. He shows great touch on the deep ball, quality pocket presence, and the ability to make layered throws. It wouldn’t surprise me to see his recruiting stock take off this coming winter and spring.

My Coverage

Bellville RB DD Murray‍

  • 20 carries, 197 yards, 5 TDs rushing
  • 1 reception, 51 yards, 1 TD receiving

It was a masterful night for DD Murray — more eloquently known as “The Chef” by the Bellville public address announcing — as he paced the Brahmas to a 47-21 victory over Madisonville to lock up the district championship. As the tip of the spear in their vaunted Slot-T attack, Murray ripped off chunk play after chunk play, with schools like Texas State and Arkansas State in attendance to see him play. The brother of Texas A&M commit DJ Sanders‍, Murray is inching toward legendary status himself in his hometown. The six touchdowns he scored on Friday night were just one shy of Richard Reese’s school record.
