What is this bring your feet bs. Tackling big guys is about leverage. If you hit them high whether "you bring your feet" or not you are going to lose. I thought Elko just said last week he wasn't about coach speak. I'm worried his players actually aren't being taught the fundamentals of tackling. Sure looked like it tonight.

IMO… The turning point of the game was when we let them march down the field with under two minutes left in the first half to kick the field goal and tie the game.
That was the momentum shift that they needed that carried over to the second half.
I cannot believe we could not score one point in the second half.
That is beyond pathetic and inexcusable.

Halftime inherently breaks momentum, either direction.
That said, the fact we got outplayed and outscored 0-24 after said halftime is a F'n joke

There is a lot of football left to be played. However, it seems I have heard this many times before and the end result wasn't good. Good luck Ags! Buckle up, get your head on right, take to your coaching, and give some fanatical effort the rest of the season. The season is in your hands.

The missed tackles were terrible. I would be more worried about the number of times we didn't have anyone in position to tackle. Paarticilarly early, they were getting outside with ease.

Our guys did not seem prepared for their offense. First possession of the game threw the writing on the wall. I was surprised by lack of defensive discipline.

First you have to be in position to tackle big backs with your body.

What didnt they stop rushing past the QB and work to contain?

They say defense is travel well. It looks like ours didn't get off the bus.

Refreshing to hear him say "that's on me" and "it starts with me" instead of "we just need to execute."

Jimbo said many times "we just gotta coach em up better"

Problem was, he had no idea what that meant.

I think Elko is still enough of an X's and O's tactician that he's gonna spend extra time dissecting it and then attacking the solutions.

I believe he was saying that we were diving too much. We were not close enough to the ball-carrier before diving at him. Then we'd dive and slip off him, often going up high.

Elko's best answer was his reply to Travis, formerly of the BCS Eagle. I like Travis a lot, but he didn't do his homework in knowing A&M makes it to Atlanta if they win out.

What? That's just Bill Belichik coach speak 101.

Coach, you got a defensive team that's more worried about how to celebrate, than how to play. You can't coach effort, and the lack of effort last night was astounding. I think the 4th down calls were beyond stupid, but, that's a want to thing, and they wanted it and we didn't.

If you've watched SC this year, losing isn't a shock. Getting kicked in the teeth over and over, without fighting back, is. And the celebrating is getting ridiculous, just make a play, and move on.

I agree on turning pont of game. We had the turnover but we gave the ball back with another penalty. But from the time we did not make the 4th down try this team quit. They quit and lost the 2nd half 24 to 0. Have seen lessor teams quit but this is a pretty good team, a top 10 team, I thought. Have never seen a ranked Aggie team just quit like that.

The celebrating after a play is something I did not want to see become a part of Aggie football but it has. Don't think you can go back.

DE's were penetrating deep for the sack and leaving a lane as wide as a bus. Yet, how many sacks did we get? If they are coached to play that way it is on coaching staff. If they know better, they should have been pulled from game. Especially #11, Scourton.

This.

Was yelling at the TV all night.

Either Scourton should've been told not to take the rush so deep, or we should've had a LB or DT stunt in that lane.

90% of their rushing yards came from the QB flushing the pocket to his right and we made ZERO adjustments.

It was Elko's first time on the mountain top with a target on his back with a young coaching staff. He will learn and get better at it!

I think "bring the feet" is a generalization for better form. Think "bring the wood" when making a generalization about being tougher. It could also be the oposite of "leave your feet" which would imply the guys were not driving through tackles. Think video game hit-stick vs. keeping your base and driving throught the hip. Either way, I think it is an appropriate response. Not sure what else he would say 20 minutes after the L.

This is our most lopsided loss since a 52-24 drubbing at Alabama on 10/3/2020 because South Carolina outscored us 24-0 in the second half, but we still can reach the SEC Championship Game by winning out. I still think our floor is still 9-3 because we should be double digit road favorites at Auburn. Vanderbilt defeated Auburn 17-7 on the road to improve to 6-3 (3-2 SEC) and drop Auburn to 3-6 (1-5 SEC). As a result, Auburn has lost 5 consecutive home games against Power 4 teams, dating back to a 27-24 home loss to Alabama on 11/25/2023. This year, they have lost all 4 home games against Power 4 teams to Cal, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt. If these 4 teams can beat Auburn at their place, then so can we. Hugh Freeze is 1-7 in home games against Power 4 teams.

Still, the road game at Auburn is a trap game because we will probably be double-digit road favorites, and it comes before the Lone Star State rivalry showdown with Texas at Kyle Field. We must beat Auburn to secure a 9-3 regular season finish and 6-2 SEC record. If we do that, we will be playing Texas for an SEC Championship Game and playoff appearances.
