Football routs McNeese State, 52-10
Behind 333 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, Texas A&M claimed its first win of the 2024 season and the Mike Elko era, dominating McNeese State 52-10.

Notables:

  • The Aggies’ four rushing touchdowns in the game were their most since tallying four in the win over Prairie View in 2021, while the team’s 333 total yards on the ground were their most since racking up 503 against Northwestern State to open the 2018 season.

  • The Maroon & White saw two players score multiple rushing touchdowns, marking the first time that has happened since De’Von Achane and Isaiah Spiller each posted a pair of rushing scores in the Orange Bowl victory over North Carolina to cap off the 2020 season.

  • The Aggies tallied 529 yards of total offense, eclipsing the 500-yard mark for the first time since racking up 557 yards against ULM a season ago.

  • The Maroon & White limited the Cowboys to just 99 yards through the air, the fewest passing yards since holding Auburn to 56 in 2023.

  • Texas A&M’s 38 points in the first half were the most through two quarters since putting up 38 on Prairie View in 2021.

  • The Aggies’ eight straight scoring drives were the most consecutive scoring drives in regulation since scoring on nine straight against Baylor in 2011.

  • Thirty-two Aggies recorded at least one tackle in the victory over McNeese.

The Aggies will head to The Swamp on Saturday for a date with Florida.

Soccer takes down LA Tech
Taylor Pounds scored two goals in a span of 55 seconds to lead the Texas A&M soccer team to a 2-0 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Sunday evening at Ellis Field, giving head coach G Guerrieri his 514th career victory.

With the triumph, Guerrieri passed retired Florida skipper Becky Burleigh on the all-time wins list at No. 4 for NCAA Division I women’s soccer coaches. He also moved into eighth place among women’s soccer coaches in all NCAA divisions.

The Aggies head to the Nutmeg State for the first time in program history, facing the Central Connecticut State Thursday at 6 p.m. followed by a Sunday noon match versus the UConn Huskies.

Volleyball defeats Texas State
The Texas A&M volleyball team won its fourth-straight match to start the season behind Logan Lednicky’s 19 kills in its sweep of Texas State Friday evening at Reed Arena, 3-0 (25-13, 26-24, 25-19).

The Maroon & White return to Reed Arena next weekend as Temple, UNH and Louisiana make the trip to Aggieland for the Texas A&M Invitational Sept. 13-15.
