It's game day for Aggie volleyball! Head to Reed Arena at 6:30 p.m. tonight to watch Jamie Morrison's Aggies take on Texas State. The head coach joined Friday's edition of TexAgs LIVE to speak on the impact of the 12th Man, his squad and much more.

Key notes from Jamie Morrison interview

  • Pack Reed. I want to get people out to see what we are doing.

  • I love this sport. Part of the incentive for me to come here was that I saw room for it to grow. I can introduce the sport to people who are going to the football game tomorrow. You are seeing attendance records broken left and right. I want to bring that excitement to Texas A&M.

  • I think it is awesome that professional volleyball will be in our backyard. There could be some opportunities for scrimmages or something along those lines. We will probably start working on that next year.

  • There were a lot of people who showed up early for the match. There has been a different energy in the gym than last year. I came here because of the 12th Man. Nebraska sells out 9,000 people per match. We can do that here.

  • We will do some different things with fan engagement tonight that I am bringing from international volleyball. We want to get the crown engaged when we get a big stuff or a big kill.

  • I was coaching overseas in Austria. There were people in the rafters, flares lit, flags waved and horns blown. The fans wanted to get involved that way. I think there are pieces of that where this can become an event that you are a part of and not something you are just watching.

  • I think there is something to walking out of the locker room and the crowd already being there. You can feel energy buzzing. I can't imagine being a football player and walking out to Kyle Field.

  • I want us to get out tonight and start playing good volleyball from the beginning. I want us to be the aggressor. The good teams that know their identity say, "Here I am. Do something about it," to their opponent. To do that, by point five, we need to lean into them and have them on their heels.

  • You are starting to figure out your team's identity and lean into that. It will probably take another weekend or two, but by SEC play, you should have a pretty good idea of who you are.

  • This program is here because of what Laurie and John Corbelli did. From the beginning, I wanted to celebrate and build upon what they did. I have been trying to lean into the tradition of this program. It's been to two Elite Eights, eight Sweet Sixteens and 24 Tournament appearances. This place has tradition, and it is because of Laurie.

  • Any person should ask questions when they come into something new. I learned about the traditions of the school and what fits the school from Laurie Corbelli. I asked about College Station. I asked about this job and the opportunity that it was. I learned from that.

  • We 100 percent feed off the football program. I think every program at Texas A&M feeds off the football program. I am a big believer in what they are doing. I am a big believer in Mike Elko. The result of the last game wasn't what everybody wanted, but you can see the pieces of it trending in the right direction.
