Quick-hitters from game one against Florida
Melting ice
Perhaps the only real questionable decision Texas A&M Kevin Sumlin made in Saturday’s 20-17 loss to Florida was an attempt to “ice” Gators kicker Caleb Sturgis late in the first half.
Sturgis, one of the best kickers in the country and a finalist for the Lou Groza Award last year, was about to attempt a 51-yard field goal with just under two minutes remaining in the first half. His attempt hit the upright and bounced away.
