Mike Elko and Texas A&M have reached into the transfer portal once again, and this time, it is for a standout linebacker coming off his strongest season, as Solomon DeShields announced his plans to transfer from Pitt to Texas A&M.

Originally from Millville (NJ), DeShields signed with Pitt in the 2020 recruiting class. He played in 41 games over his four years at Pitt and emerged as a leader in 2023.

As a redshirt junior in 2023, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound defender started 12 games and registered a career-high 58 tackles to go along with eight TFLs, two sacks and a PBU. Over the course of his career, he recorded 85 tackles (40 solos), 13 TFLs, six sacks, a fumble recovery and a PBU.

He announced his plans to enter the portal in April as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility, and Texas A&M was quick to make contact. He visited College Station the weekend of April 19, and now, he is ready to be an Aggie.

In addition to Texas A&M, DeShields was also contacted by the likes of Washington, Iowa State, Syracuse and Colorado
