The backups and freshman played too well. A dropped td and a fumble while about to score takes away from a great story. Play perfect (not including the cornerback play) and lose. Then we can celebrate another moral victory. But a dropped td and fumble can't be excused because they were not supposed to win. Be perfect has to be another culture change. Too many moral victories with A&M football.

The other story is how far behind in talent this program is. Another 3-4 years easily unless portal and NIL recruiting are ramped up massively. Good luck.

Coach Elko has a lot of work to do.
Wish him the best.

I am wondering what high schools had such quick and talented defensive backs but did not teach them to "read eyes" of the receiver and be aware of the ball. Maybe they don't teach that in high school anymore. All those ally oop passes and we did not win one jump ball. For most we were not even fighting for the ball. You let a receiver get behind you and you know he will push off to get a little more lead on you. Bravion and Jayvon (#19 & #14) seem to be fast enough and quick enough, they just had no ball awareness.

I disagree strongly with "other story". Our DB's were not short on speed/talent, they just need to be taught ball awareness. How does a 4 star DB not get taught to read eyes and know when the ball is in the air. Maybe we could put speakers in their helmets and talk them thru it since they haven't been coached well at the high school level.
We lost three QB's to injuries, two of those due to and OL that blocks like pros on one play and lets someone thru untouched on the next. I see a lot of talent and very poor coaching on both sides of the ball.
