A road test in Oxford is the next step in Texas A&M's salvage process as No. 11 Ole Miss figures to challenge the Aggies. On Monday, Jimbo Fisher, Max Johnson, Trey Zuhn and Shemar Turner spoke to the media to preview this weekend's matchup with the Rebels.

Jimbo Fisher

  • Had a good win. Great to get a good win. Got out of the blocks slow. Scored six of the next seven. Hit a nice long field goal. Defensively, did a nice job. Kept the quarterback in the pocket. Had good receivers. Spencer Rattler is a good football player. He will play on Sundays along with some of those receivers. They have good skill guys.

  • That was good off the bye week. Got to get better. Jaxson Dart can throw the ball well. Ole Miss has done a good job in the transfer portal. We will have to play well on the road and have a good week of practice to be able to go do that.

  • We scored on three straight drives. We scored a touchdown that was a touchdown. If you can’t tell if the ball didn't move, it didn't move. I thought we did well in the second half. We are right there. The next one, Noah Thomas, had it and got hit.

  • Fridays are the academic days. When you leave on Friday, you miss class. It helps academically.

  • Every coach has their own style of play. You go off the guy's tendencies. Last week, Shane Beamer is known to pull fakes. We had to go over that last week. Nick Saban used to be big on that. Lane Kiffin has those tendencies.

  • Your safeties are linebackers. Even the corners are. There are different ways to play Cover 2.

  • Nik Constantinou is our punter. He has done it for a long time. Just have to get him back in the groove. We will get him going.

  • Mark Nabou can play multiple positions. He is a very intelligent and gifted guy.

  • You have to be sound in everything you do on the road, You have to execute in critical moments, and that is what it comes down too

  • Le’Veon Moss should be back in practice today.

  • They run and take shots. Jaxson Dart can make plays with his legs. They have got good portal guys.

  • There is nothing wrong with what Moose Muhammad is doing. Guys will get in rotation.

  • We were pretty good on short yardage before last week. The Alabama game, we had a missed assignment. At Tennessee, needed two and got 1.5. Hopefully, we keep having success.

  • Yeah, we change up the signals all the time. We have four things for this and three things for this. Same as baseball. In my day, you sent players in, and you didn't signal.

  • If you can pick up signals, more power to you. We have a kill sign and a live sign. Who is the dummy signaler? The whole gambit.

  • It’s not as cut and dry as “I’m going for it on fourth down.” It depends on the flow of the game. Your approach doesn't change. Maybe theirs does. Sometimes you go for it, and it costs. If you execute, it's a great analytic. If you don't, it’s a bad analytic.

  • Edgerrin Cooper always had the ability to do it. It’s the fundamental things. Maturity comes when you are a linebacker. He knows the answers to the test because he understands film study. He knows how to study. You know how to recognize things. Those little things are a nuance of what will happen. It’s maturity. It’s an art how to learn how to study film.

  • Ole Miss was throwing the ball more at the beginning of the season. Sometimes, guys have great years, and they think they have to do better than the year before. Quinshon Judkins is in the groove now. He rarely misses cuts.

Fisher's comment regarding Moose didn't sound convincing to me.
Somethings up there.
Hope I'm wrong.

There is going to be an exodus of good players after the season. We are going to see some starters leave. Team is going to undergo a big makeover via the transfer portal and our overall team talent will go down considerably.

People said that last year. I would love to see how teams would do playing their backup QB after 3 1/2 games rest of the year. Regardless we still lost games we should have won by 6 and 7 points respectfully. Not saying Max would have won those, but people acting like we are garbage and we need to fire jimbo. Okay, who do we hire? Michigan stood by Harbaugh after getting waxed by their rival five straight years. No way we would tolerate that if sip did that to us. Now they will be in playoffs again. I think little tweaks and we will be okay. For one, having an oline protect the QB so we don't have to worry about how good our backup is every year.

Nik is our punter, we got to get him going. Question: How do we get him going? Who helps get him going?
