Texas A&M volleyball head coach Jamie Morrison joined Tuesday's edition of TexAgs Radio to chat about the Aggies' victories at Ole Miss and Mississippi State before previewing their upcoming matches at LSU on Friday prior to hosting South Carolina at Reed Arena on Sunday.

Key notes from Jamie Morrison interview

  • We had a tour of Mississippi. If you're ever at a volleyball match in Mississippi, bring earplugs. Both places like to play music at an unbearable level. At Mississippi State, their band was there, and it was an unbelievable environment.

  • We talked about rebounding from the Missouri loss, and I thought we did that. Mississippi State is a really good volleyball team in a tough environment, so to come out and play without ever feeling the threat of losing a set is a really good feeling as a volleyball coach.

  • In the beginning, if you go back to the Houston and TCU matches, the jabs have put us on our heels for a couple of sets. You have to give our players props for the progress of leaning into adversity, and we're starting to do that more and more.

  • Logan Lednicky is highly efficient. She's killing the ball at like 51 percent. She's not making a ton of errors. On Sunday, she was hitting .330, and those numbers are All-American-like.

  • Against Ole Miss, we went into a 5-1, which is where you have one setter and one opposite. Normally, we play in a 6-2. With a couple of injury things and preventative things, we went into a 5-1. We want to have the option of going into both systems. Nisa Buzlutepe had a good volleyball game with 31 assists.

  • In some ways, being on the road was good for us. It kicks you into a rhythm. These young women are balancing academics and athletics. At home, I have the priority of getting them to class, so there are pieces of the road that I like. We've found that being on the road is positive for us. We're together as a team, which is awesome too. Being on the road is difficult, but we've been good on the road.

  • LSU is a really athletic volleyball team. It will be a grind. Their record is around .500, but if they get going, they're extremely dangerous. I've talked a lot about playing a suffocating style of volleyball. If we do that, we have a good shot at beating them.

  • We get to come home on Sunday. The thing I was disappointed about with the Missouri game was that it felt like we were so close to a bunch of people coming out to our matches. I still ask people to come out and support. Our team truly enjoys the atmosphere inside our building. Come check us out. I like what we're putting on the floor, and I like the environment in Reed.

  • Ifenna Cos-Okpalla was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week. I did not expect us to be this good of a blocking team. We are second in the nation in blocks right now. It's a consistent thing that we're good at every single day, and Ifenna is at the forefront of that. Blocking-wise, our right-side blockers have worked on their footwork to be in the right spot time in and time out.
