College football is back this weekend as a handful of Week 0 games will be played around the country and in Dublin. On Monday morning, ESPN and SEC Network play-by-play voice Tom Hart joined TexAgs Radio to run down the latest SEC storylines ahead of kickoff.

Key notes from Tom Hart interview

  • Billy Liucci is a movie star. I watched the Johnny Manziel documentary. I liked seeing old-school Liucci in the sit-down interview with Kevin Sumlin. I laughed really hard when I saw him. I love seeing Johnny's highlights. I loved hearing him tell his story. He gave in-depth answers that deserved more investigation. I wanted to see more. I wanted to see another three episodes.

  • What time is the Dublin game kicking off? I think it's the best game on the schedule for Week 0. Week 0 is no longer going to look like Week 0. With USC and UCLA going to the Big Ten, they will have to have to build in more bye weeks with travel or teams playing Hawaii. I think we will stretch it out. I want to see what Vanderbilt looks like this week. I am excited to have football back.

  • I am naturally curious about USC, and USC and Oklahoma will go hand in hand. USC took Oklahoma’s head coach, quarterback and robbed them of their ego. Oklahoma can get back there, and they will have a better year. USC and Oklahoma are on parallel tracks because what one does impacts how I think about the other.

  • Texas A&M is not the only place with a quarterback battle. I have Alabama for Week 1. That is a conversation for Nick Saban. How much is tied to performance or leadership, or are they intertwined? The players know who is better, but there are sometimes surprises.

  • Kirby Smart caught grief when he named Jake Fromm his starting quarterback. There were guys in the Georgia locker room that did not want Fromm to be the starter. Sometimes coaches make decisions against the locker room.

  • No transfer quarterback is the same because they are not in the same situation. With Graham Mertz at Florida, the roster, from a talent standpoint, is not where I need to be.

  • Kentucky's offensive line was bad last year. They brought Liam Coen back, and that will be a better offense. Devin Leary has the chance to be the transfer quarterback that can make some noise. The question becomes if the offensive line is good enough. Can they win the big games? I think he will prove he is the best transfer quarterback of the offseason.

  • If you have had a long day golfing where nothing is going right, you start not to care anymore. That also happens in college football. If a team loses a couple of games, sometimes teams will quit. There will be a team that is average to poor, and you can't see it until someone admits it.

  • The margins are so thin between winning and losing. You can pick a bunch of teams in the SEC West and say they could finish between seven or ten wins.

  • I think South Carolina will get off to a better start. Spencer Rattler was running an offense he didn't know. They made him more comfortable That made the league so fascinating. In the SEC, there is so much talent.

  • Carson Beck played in seven games and in the national championship, but those games had been decided. He will stay in the pocket more than Stetson Bennett did. Georgia has a deep backfield, but they do not have that elite guy. Their schedule got easier. They will have time to figure out who they are.
