Apex Performance of the Week: Pair of Aggies secure 2023 USFL title

Former Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger helped the Birmingham Stallions capture their second USFL championship. After leading the USFL in receiving touchdowns this season, Sternberger is among a few standouts worthy of this week's Apex Performance of the Week.

David Nuño’s Performance of the Week: Texas A&M recruiting

• Blanket statement: Texas A&M recruiting. You cannot have the week that they just had and not give them the props that they deserve. Cameron Coleman‍ was the most recent, but we also had Jaylan Hornsby‍, Tyanthony Smith‍, Drelon Miller‍, Gabriel Reliford‍ and Weston Davis‍.
   
• I don’t have a problem with fans on fan message boards complaining about NIL without sources. Where I have a problem is when prominent journalists run with that material to help tell their story.
   
• I think Jace Sternberger will get an NFL opportunity next year.
   
• They should set up a championship game between the XFL champion and the USFL champion each spring.

Olin Buchanan’s Performance of the Week: Dameyune Craig

• Special recognition on the recruiting front should go to Dameyune Craig if he’s the lead recruiter on Coleman. To get a five-star out of Alabama takes some work.
   
• People on Auburn’s message boards are not happy and talking about NIL. Give a source. There never is a source. If you’re a journalist, find out some truth to it, but journalism isn’t what it used to be. It has gotten lazy now.
   
• Sternberger should get an NFL opportunity because the Cowboys had a guy from the USFL the year before. Those guys get a shot. Hopefully, he gets a shot and makes a team. He’s another good guy.

Luke Evangelist’s Performance of the Week: Jace Sternberger & Jahmir Johnson

• Jace Sternberger and Jahmir Johnson won the USFL Championship with the Birmingham Stallions. Sternberger had three catches for 65 yards in a 28-12 victory. Sternberger had 39 catches, 634 yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He led the league in receiving touchdowns.
