Following a hard-fought loss to undefeated LSU on Sunday afternoon, Texas A&M is off during the midweek as the Aggies prepare for a weekend road game against Mississippi State. Joni Taylor joined Tuesday's edition of TexAgs Radio to discuss the latest regarding her program.

Key notes from Joni Taylor interview

  • We didn't get the win on Sunday against LSU, but there is definitely growth there. I don’t think we expected to play as closely as we did to the No. 3 team in the country. If we continue this way, we are definitely going to see growth.

  • Early on in the game, we weren’t doing the things we needed to do. Angel Reese is a great player, and one thing we couldn't let them do is score in transition. That is exactly what happened, and we didn’t have time to defend. In the third and fourth quarter, I thought we did a lot better, and we were aggressive on offense. It was a matter of settling in and being persistent. Taking the fight to them, and I believe that's what caught us up to them.

  • Being back at Reed Arena, it was great seeing a great crowd. There was a lot going that night as well. We had senior night as well as our BTHO Breast Cancer game. There were also some alumni and former Aggie players in the crowd, and we wanted to play well for them. The crowd carries us.

  • Before Mississippi State, we have a little bit of a rest. This is important for us mentally and physically. It gives us a chance to work on ourselves and reset. It’s also important for the players to get back in rotation to get some reps in. It gives us a chance to chill and focus on us.
