The win over Northwestern State was the ninth win of the season for the Texas A&M basketball program.
In those nine victories, seven different Aggies have led the team in scoring, with Manny Obaseki adding his name to the list.
The freshman guard saw eight minutes of action in the first half, scoring just three points. In the second period, Obaseki found a rhythm on the offensive end and turned a slow first half into a breakout performance.
"I thought Mo was as good as he's been," Buzz said of his freshman guard. "He's not afraid to be coached. He's not afraid to work and he's very consistent with his work."
The first half started slow as Northwestern State was able to play tough and keep the score within six points for the first ten minutes.
A steal by Obaseki that led to a Hassan Diarra layup at the 9:57 mark, followed by an Obaseki block at 9:45 started an 11-4 scoring run by the Maroon and White to extend the lead to 13 points, the largest margin of the first half.
The second half was a back and forth game between the Aggies and Demons.
"We didn't have the consistency that we need to have," Buzz Williams noted about the team's intensity. "It was too inconsistent, and a mature team doesn't have that roller coaster of inconsistency."
Texas A&M would build an 18 point lead before the first media timeout, but Northwestern would fight back and make a run of its own, cutting the deficit to as little as nine. The Ags would finish the game on an 11-2 scoring run and close out with a 19 point victory.
That scoring spree was started by Obaseki, who completed a three-point play with a free throw to finish with a career-high 19 points.
The Aggies' next game will be December 27 against Dallas Christian at Reed Arena. Admission and parking for that game will be free.
