The Longhorns took the Lone Star Showdown on Sunday, defeating the Aggies by a final of 60-50 in the newly built Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Despite a late scoring spree in the final three minutes, Texas A&M was unable to dig itself out of the deficit created by the lack of offensive production in the first 30 minutes of play. The Aggies were slow to get going in the first half, only putting 17 points on the scoreboard. No A&M player scored more than four points, and the team tallied just six assists to 11 turnovers before the break.

The bright spot for Buzz Williams and the Aggies in the first half was the play of freshman guard Emanuel Miller, who scored four points and grabbed eight rebounds.

It wasn’t much better for the Longhorn fans before intermission as Texas was held to just 27 points in the first period on 11 of 29 shooting from the field and seven turnovers of its own.

The second half was similar to the first as the Aggies struggled to score and gave the ball away ten times.

In the loss, Josh Nebo made his presence felt at both ends of the court, scoring 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, grabbing five rebounds, blocking three of Texas’ shot attempts, while altering numerous others. Emanuel Miller continued his growth as a player as he finished with eight points and 14 rebounds.

However, the Texas perimeter players made timely 3-point shots and turned Aggie mistakes into easy baskets in transition.

Jase Febres, a junior guard, made four long-range shots on his way to a game-high 17 points. Matt Coleman III added two more 3-point baskets, with Courtney Ramey contributing seven assists to lead the Longhorns to victory.

The Aggies return home to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Reed Arena on December 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and will be aired on SEC Network+.
