Defense in Review: No. 12 Texas A&M 41, Texas State 7

August 31, 2019

• Mike Elko's defense came within 40 seconds of pitching the shutout and within 8 yards of pitching some sort of 'rushing yardage shutout' if such a stat exists. Until Texas State's final drive of the game - an 11-play, 84 yard TD march against a collection of second- and third-teamers - the Aggies hadn't allowed a point, and the Bobcat offense had managed just 135 yards on 50 snaps. That's less than three yards per play if you're scoring at home. Texas State's first 12 drives produced nothing, and the visitors only crossed midfield once.
