Key notes from Annie Kunz interview
- I’m pretty beat from my last few weeks. I had two heptathlons in the past few weeks, so I’ve been focusing on relaxing and resting.
- Going into the meet, I knew it was a quick turn around from the USA’s. I knew it would be more about competing than winning because of the shape I was in after those few days. I just wanted to compete.
- I’ll never forget my experience because it really does mimic the Olympics. There’s an athlete’s village and all of that. And then to be on the podium and have my family there, that was something special.
- I definitely had a couple of events like shotput that I really dropped the ball in and a few others. I feel like some of that had to do with just doing another heptathlon the week before. I usually do like four of those in a year, and I just did two in like two weeks.
- It’s funny because after I’m done, I usually lay on the ground for like ten minutes. This time, I popped up in like 30 seconds, it’s such a crazy feeling to be wearing the letters ‘USA’ across my chest and being able to represent your country. It just gave me more motivation going into this year because it gave me a glimpse of what it could be like to qualify for the Olympics.
