Notes from Liucci’s breakdown on Richardson

  • The important thing is he went up after Jackson was lost to an injury. He is one of the big backs there.

  • It’s wide open behind Corbin. Richardson is unique because of the power he can run with.

  • They’re fighting to keep him under 250. At one point, he was over and he was still running pretty well. In a perfect world, he’s a 240-pound back that is a thick, sturdy human being. If you saw him, you’d say he’s hard to tackle.

  • He’s a load to bring down. He runs hard. He’s athletic. He can catch the ball out of the backfield.

  • Richardson has that build where he could be a fullback, but I think he’s a tailback.

  • I get nervous when guys don’t play for a long time like Richardson. With running backs, that can be less of a concern because you can feed him the ball and they’ll get going.

  • It would be nice to have Cordarrian emerge as a hammer down near the goal line. The style of play has changed where you don’t really need that. With Fisher and Graham, not having that is not that big of an issue.

  • He was a borderline five-star recruit that was committed to Clemson. Graham had a hard time deciding between him and Cam Akers at Florida State.

  • He was not a fit at UCF under Scott Frost. He’s had a difficult path to get here.

  • It might finally be time for him to get on the field.

  • He could be your second-leading ball carrier and a hammer at the goal line. That would be a significant impact.

  • He was worth the roll of the dice from the coaching staff to get here.

  • You’re real thankful that Kibodi didn’t transfer and that Richardson came in as a transfer after Vernon Jackson went down. It’s a question that needs to be answered as to who is going to be behind Corbin.

  • He’s had a good spring. There is no question in anybody’s mind that he can play. The question is how consistent can he be.

  • Having the big back is an element that the Aggies have been missing for a long time.

  • He has a chance to be a really big part of the A&M ground game. There’s competition there. The talent is there though. If he shakes off the rust and gets into the flow of doing it every day, then he’ll be a big impact.
