A so-so day in the first round in Norman at a 5 over for 11th place. 6 shots out of 6th place. Top 6 go to nationals.

Finished in 13th place after being seeded 14th. 15 teams had better rounds today. Finished 29 shots out of 6th place. At least they got to play 3 more rounds.

A number of things to consider here...

1. Our Aggies Women's Golf Team was fortunate to be selected to the regional qualifier as their results demonstrated.
2. It appears that our top players based on scoring averages alone would be hard pressed to earn playing time at the top 4-5 SEC Schools.
3. Trelle McCombs and her assistant coach husband set our program back 4-5 years at least...She, unfortunately, turned-off a number of recruits based on the disenchantment two top Texas-based players that chose not to return it negatively impacted recruiting that we are still recovering from.
4. The team cumulative GPA leads all of our athletic teams and must be commended!!! Well Done!
5. Coach Gaston does not have any top players coming in next year...she benefitted from a super strong SOCAL recruiting base at USC for a number of years...whose players picked between two schools - USC and UCLA. She now fights Texas and their excellent coach for our state's top recruits and she is behind...
6. Hopefully, our Aggie assistant coach can help with our upperclassman player leadership challenges...
7. We continue to have scholarship players that are not being developed...hopefully, this is not a carry-over from the McCombs' days where she doted and spent wasted time over walk-ons that flattered her.

Best of luck Aggies and great job on the GPA!
