Key notes from Billy Kennedy interview
- Against Florida, we paid attention to detail on both ends of the floor. Obviously, when you make shots, you play better. Wendell Mitchell did a really good and we did a good job at finding him. Our energy, effort and attitude playing for each other was much better.
- We're working on putting a full 40 minutes together. We're trying to work on consistency in practice. We had a five minute stretch in the second half when we started playing a lot of one-on-one and forcing shots. Florida making 11 threes in the second half is hard to overcome.
- All we can do is keep showing TJ film on when he over penetrates and takes tough shots. We need to keep on showing him when he plays off two feet and under control, he's better. He can't have five minutes taking tough shots ad not moving the ball against high caliber teams.
- Nebo played probably more minutes against Florida with 26 then any game all season. Teams are starting to double him and that makes it really tough to get him the ball. He's got to be able to make quick moves and not hold the ball. Mekowulu got some good shots against Florida, but just didn't make them. We need to get him going too.
- We like the way we're playing the bigs now. Nebo and Mekowulu are the two guys that have been the most consistent pieces of our team. I like where we're at with both of them. We'll continue bringing Nebo off the bench at this point.
- I'm worried about taking care of the ball against Kansas State. Offensively, they have multiple guys averaging double figures. They're a tough physical team and it is a good opportunity for us to return home and play well. Hopefully we can shoot it well and our guys are excited to play against a good team.
- With our team right now, it's all about us. We have to get better in the fundamental things before we worry so much about a team like Kansas State.
