Key notes from Ed Molitor interview

  • It's been great to see Porter Moser succeed at Loyola-Chicago. I know he's done it the right way. And he's built it from the ground up, it's not the same as it was when he first showed up there. But he's always been adamant with me that he thinks Loyola is the best job in the state of Illinois.

  • Coach Barone is struggling right now, but still fighting every single day. He always wants to make the conversation about you, no matter how bad he is. I got to see him the other day and he's doing okay. It was really fun last year getting to talk to him about Porter being successful, a guy who learned under him.

  • So our brand at The Molitor Group is The Athletics of Business. I grew up around both sports and business, and there is so many parallels. It's all about finding what you can control, in an attempt to Unleash Greatness. We'll have a three part presentation, all day long, it'll be a fun day. Trying to show you the ways that separate yourself, how to get from good to great.

  • This event is wrapped around both teams, individuals and emerging leaders. The thing that is really cool is that it is in such a great environment inside the Hall of Champions at Kyle Field. It's not about us just pouring value into you, it's also about networking and team building.

  • Our podcast, The Athletics of Business, is awesome. We've had some phenomenal guests, the first being Porter Moser. We talk about the leadership mindset and how to instill that into your athletes and co-workers. The one being released today is with former Rice running back and NFL employee Rod Newhouse.

  • I'm blessed to have a relationship with Don Yaeger and he is apart of this event. I'll let him tell you his story, he's one of the greatest writers I know, a former Sports Illustrated editor. He wrote a biography on Walter Payton, and spent the last three weeks of his life with him. He gets these stories and has these relationships because he is such a great human being. He also really gets Texas A&M and the traditions, so he will be a great asset to this event.

  • I think tonight is going to be a big game at Reed Arena. The Aggies need to carry that road win from Saturday into tonight. Momentum is a huge thing and the Aggies need to utilize it. I think Auburn is a very good basketball team and Bruce Pearl is a great coach. It's going to be fun to watch.
