Key notes from Around Aggieland

Volleyball

Texas A&M outside hitter Hollann Hans was named the Power 5 National Player of the Week, and middle blocker London Austin-Roark was named the Power 5 Freshman of the Week.

After three consecutive five-set matches, the Aggies fell short to the Tennessee Volunteers on Friday evening and the No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats yesterday afternoon. A&M will close out their three-match home stand on Friday night at against the Alabama Crimson Tide at 6:30.

Soccer

Yesterday, No. 5 Texas A&M allowed a flurry of late goals by No. 18 Tennessee as the Aggies fell 4-0 to the Volunteers in the regular-season home finale at Ellis Field. The Aggies wrap up the 2018 regular-season slate on Thursday when they head to South Carolina for a 6 p.m. match against the Gamecocks.

Men's Golf

The Texas A&M men’s golf team was at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational over the weekend. Sam Bennett, Max Miller, and Chandler Phillips shot an even-par 72 to lead the men’s golf team in the final round. No. 10 Southern California won the tournament, and Texas A&M finished 10th at 5-over.

Women's Golf

The Aggie women were at the Betsy Rawls Invitational this weekend in Austin, Texas. The Aggies finished eighth at 44-over in a tough field that included nine top-50 squads. Host No. 6 Texas won the event at 10-under par.

Tennis

Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams were at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Waco and College Station this weekend. On Saturday, freshmen Katya Townsend and Jayci Goldsmith of the women’s team both were eliminated in the quarterfinal round of singles. Freshman Alex Vedri won twice yesterday to advance to the semi-finals. Both the semifinals and finals are scheduled to take place today.

Swimming & Diving

The Aggie swimming and diving teams competed in a dual meet on Saturday morning at the University of Alabama. The No. 10 men's team fell short, 162-136, against No. 17 Alabama. The No. 5 women's team defeated Alabama 178-117.
