Key notes from George Woodard interview

• I’m really excited to be going into the hall of fame with these guys. It took a while, but I’m still here and able to see it and have fun.
   
• Cathy Capps called me and told me she had some exciting news for me. I’m sitting on the job thinking about what she meant by that. Later on, she texted me and told me a person would be getting in contact with me about it. I got the call and was told I had just been nominated to be inducted into the hall of fame. I told him not to play with me. He said it was a true call, and I said hallelujah. When I hung up the phone, I got out of the truck and danced around for a while. It was a dream come true.
   
• I didn’t ponder on the Hall of Fame. I just went about my days because the Lord knows. If you did it the right way, your time will come. You just have to be patient.
   
• In high school, going to A&M and seeing a game, I walked in the stadium and didn’t know why people were standing up. I was told it was the tradition of A&M. What solidified my decision to go to A&M was when Coach Bellard visited me at my high school. He looked me straight in the eye and told me they’re running the Wishbone and they need a fullback.
   
• When the softball injury happened, I didn’t think it had happened. A guy was standing on home plate and we stepped inside of each other’s legs and bumped shins. He was way shorter than I was. I leaned over in the dirt and he never fell. I told everyone that I thought I broke my leg, but no one believed me. They finally looked at it and rushed me to the hospital.
   
• I had a trial with the Saints, and that did not work out. I came back home and regrouped. I had a daughter that was about two or three years old. I set my mind to just take care of things at home. It had to be done. That’s what I focused on. 
   
• I am very excited for what Jimbo is building. The Clemson game was a big plus for the guys and they just need to sharpen up a few more things.
