Texas A&M Volleyball loses to No. 6 Kentucky in straight sets, 3-0
The Aggies dropped their seventh SEC match on Sunday afternoon, falling to the No. 6 Kentucky Wildcats at home, 19-25, 18-25, 17-25.
Texas A&M (7-11, 4-7 SEC) showed great effort, but Kentucky out-blocked the Aggies and appeared to be too much for A&M to handle.
“We have really made a lot of progress but are still maturing as a team. We've had such a tough schedule with such a young team,” A&M head coach Laurie Corbelli said. “It is such a fast sport that the ball control and the pace of the ball through each of the three touches is very important.”
A&M got off to a quick, furious start in the first set, going up 15-10 and causing Kentucky to call an early timeout. The Wildcats wasted no time racking up points soon after and went on to outscore the Aggies 15-4 to end the set.
With dominant serves and blocks, Kentucky jumped ahead 7-2 in the second set. The Aggies couldn’t seem to rally back and close the continually growing gap. The Wildcats stayed ahead throughout the set, eventually sealing the deal.
Though Kiara McGee and Holland Hans came alive in the third set with eleven and six kills, respectively, it wasn’t enough to keep the Aggies from being swept and losing in three straight sets.
McGee continued to ring up the stat sheet and produced a grand total of 21 kills. Camille Conner worked magic on both ends, posting 38 assists and 12 digs.
The Aggies will hit the road to take on Missouri on Friday, November 3 at 6:30 p.m.
