A&M soccer coach G Guerrieri on Auburn match, scoring chances & more

On the team's effort against Auburn last week...

"I thought the last 20 minutes was fantastic. It was complete domination by us in those 20 minutes, but the question is, why can't we go 90 minutes of total domination? I thought Auburn did great, they scored a great goal to get it started and kind of got us on our back foot a little bit. But then we were able to turn it, I was pleased with the way the players were able to turn the game. We probably missed on four chances inside of four yards which is frustrating to the players and frustrating to us. But we're getting those chances. There are a lot of places that you'll never get those chances. The frustrating thing for us is that we're creating so many opportunities to score, so why don't we just score? The ridiculousness is a lot of people saying, 'Well, what you probably should do is, have you guys worked on scoring?' Yeah, we do, every day."

On creating scoring chances...

"The deal is, we're creating a lot of great chances. We've got great players up there. We've got players like Haley Pounds who have worked their tail off and we don't want them to feel the pressure any more than just the regular pressure of a game. We're creating opportunities because of the dominance of our midfield. We're keeping the ball better than we've kept the ball for years. Our back line is very, very strong and very, very athletic. We have a great goalkeeper. We've got the pieces, we just need those pieces to step up and get it rolling.

On cleaning up their game in conference play...

"We're four weeks into the season so it's a matter of just trying to polish up the things we need to be doing. We're in goal and we're in front of goal a lot this week, so we're putting ourselves into position to be dangerous in snap of the fingers moments. On Sunday when we were on the field, it was a great session as far as creating those opportunities and finishing exchanges. We need to understand that this week we won't get as many chances against a great Florida team, so we have to stick them when we can."
