HOOVER, Ala. — Some eyebrows were raised when LSU took the “interim” label off Ed Orgeron and named him head football coach.
Orgeron has long been known as an excellent defensive line coach and spectacular recruiter, but failed miserably as a head coach at Ole Miss. He was 10-25 in three seasons from 2005-07 in Oxford.
But Orgeron went 6-1 as at interim coach at USC in 2013 and 4-2 after replacing Les Miles last season. Orgeron said he learned from his mistakes at Ole Miss.
