As his batting average plummeted, Texas A&M outfielder Walker Pennington’s frustration grew. He’d been an All-American in high school. He’d hit .420 with 13 home runs in junior college. He’d hit a respectable .258 as a backup in his first season at A&M.
So, when his batting average plunged below .200, he might have felt like crying. Except, the tears wouldn’t have fallen. Not from the left eye, anyway. A bizarre eye injury that marred his senior season would’ve prevented that.
