Acie Law IV discusses Texas A&M's loss to Tennessee

Key notes from Acie Law IV interview

  • Tennessee exposed some of A&M's weaknesses last night. You saw the Aggies' lack of depth when the starters got tired and that's when Tennessee went on their run. No one stepped up to rally the troops and bounce back.

  • Tennessee played solid defense and they came in as the aggressor last night. Their game plan was to pressure A&M and make it hard for them and the Aggies didn't respond. It was shocking that Tyler, Tonny and Robert weren't able to be effective last night.

  • For A&M to be successful, Tyler has to play well. We know D.J. and Admon can score, but Tyler is going to drive this ship. Robert was a freshman last night. The front court has to play well for A&M to be successful and they didn't last night.

  • Tyler was able to get positioning last night but what held him back was his ability to finish over length. He got the ball in scoring situations but their guys on the interior did a good job of contesting him and he wasn't able to finish.

  • You can't put too much pressure on yourself if you're Robert Williams. That was your first conference game and it just needs to be put behind you. He'll continue to improve and he's got too much talent for him to play like last night all season. He'll be just fine as the season goes on.

  • With D.J., you know his offensive game is top notch. What I'd like to see him get better at is taking charge of the team when they're reeling a little. He has the ability to step up and make a momentum changing play for his team and they need someone to take that leadership role when the team is struggling.

  • A&M really needs to find a way to split the next two against Kentucky and South Carolina to avoid an 0-3 start in conference play. Kentucky will be a tough atmosphere and has a very talented team that is playing well right now.
