Bruce Feldman discusses A&M/Alabama, shares expectations for Saturday
Key notes from Bruce Feldman interview
- It is hard for teams to be as sharp and impressive two weeks in a row and Alabama was phenomenal against Tennessee. The bye week came at a great time for A&M and they are set up to potentially dethrone the top-ranked Crimson Tide.
- Kevin Sumlin is 5-2 when his team is a double-digit underdog and he thrives in these types of games.
- Texas A&M has the weapons at receiver to provide a deep threat against Alabama down the field. The deep threat passing game will be a key for the Aggies on Saturday.
- Don’t expect Trayveon Williams to have a 200-yard rushing game, but A&M’s ability to run the ball will be paramount and he will still have to be effective. I don’t think that Alabama has seen the caliber of athletes on all three levels of the defense like A&M has on that side of the ball.
- You see how well A&M is running the football this year and the team’s identity is more comfortable with where they are. A&M has enough firepower to keep Alabama’s defense honest.
- The entire Alabama defense is stacked and they are all rare talents who are extremely productive. They are so loaded in the front seven and this game will be a four-quarter battle.
- Trevor Knight has brought in leadership and maturity to the quarterback room at Texas A&M. On the field, Mazzone has done a great job with Knight’s athleticism with the designed runs that he dials up. When A&M was running the ball with Johnny it was a lot more improvised.
- Accuracy has been an issue with Trevor Knight and this weekend he is going to have to take advantage of opportunities to be accurate and complete passes against a stout Alabama defense.
- If A&M is able to go in and beat Alabama in Bryant-Denny, they have the best case in the country to be ranked number one. Nothing this season would compare to taking down the top ranked Crimson Tide.
