Watch Fletcher Cleaves' story from College Gameday
From TexAgs sponsor: AT&T It Can Wait
On Sept. 9, 2009, a phone changed a life forever.
Fletcher Cleaves was driving home from dinner after practice at Lambuth University, where he had just been named a starter on the football team that day, when an oncoming car veered into his lane. Swerving to avoid it, Cleaves crashed and was paralyzed from the chest down.
All Cleaves saw was the glow from the phone on the other driver’s face.
The It Can Wait campaign, aimed at putting an end to smartphone distracted driving, tells Fletcher's story in a powerful video (below) that debuted this morning on College GameDay — spanning from his early dreams of earning a football scholarship to his work in physical rehab to come back from the devastating crash. Six years after the crash, Cleaves has graduated with a degree from the University of Memphis and begun his life anew.
Cleaves was present during GameDay's broadcast from Tuscaloosa today to see his story presented.
