HOUSTON — It was a big game for Texas A&M football newcomers as
freshman Christian Kirk scored touchdowns on two long plays and John
Chavis' defense turned in a performance worthy of Wrecking Crew mention
in a 38-17 victory over No. 15 Arizona State.
Quarterback Kyle Allen, who shared time with freshman Kyler Murray, threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score.
But it was Kirk who provided the offensive highlights. He returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and turned a short horizontal pass into a game-clinching 66-yard touchdown with 3:45 remaining.
